Posted by: Mr. Kiran Reddy At: 23, Jul 2003 11:54:19 AM IST hi kiran ...i hv no idea abt catalyst4000.
& reg' this errDisbale prob' lemme know the scenario if possible 'll try here in my lab...
Posted by: Mrs. MadhaviReddy Madhu At: 23, Jul 2003 9:33:13 AM IST Exactly! I do feel the same, I would like to post you 3rd party tool, 'VlanDirector' switch management application which simplifies VLAN port assignment and offers other management capabilities for VLANs.You can try this 4 ur test setup, a management tool that provides an accurate picture of your VLANs.Actually this is an CISCO proprietary.
Its my time to post my doubt, My doubt is 'port connectivity issue' of the Catalyst4000 switch, i m getting regularly 'errDisable' and corresponding shutdowning my port if software processes inside the switch detect an error.
pls let me know ur views reg this, I have posted the same to CISCO.can u pls let me know the error and tell me the exact way to reconfigure the port to work..
Posted by: Mr. Kiran Reddy At: 18, Jul 2003 2:45:01 PM IST Yeah this is a good Q. Actually i forgot 2 mention one point prev. In my test set up, i assumed that Port 2-4 of one switch are connected to Pots 2-4 of other switch.
& now in ur case. if Hosts connected to this ports then how....is this ur Q... then i think a/c 2 aggregation topic ..aggregation happens only when the ports to be aggreagted are connected to same device. so i think in this case aggregation won't happen.
Thank U kiran :-)
Posted by: Mrs. MadhaviReddy Madhu At: 18, Jul 2003 2:21:06 PM IST Hi Madhavi,
Thanks for the quick response.According to you if u aggregate ports 2&4 which belong to different VLANs, if they are not the members of A&B then if any host tries to communicate with other, is it possible?
Put some light on this as I feel its quite interesting topics.
Thanks in advance,
cheers,
Kiran.
Posted by: Mr. Kiran Reddy At: 17, Jul 2003 8:20:03 PM IST Hey Kiran,
Thank You 4 spending ur time on this doubt. But kiran VLAN is on the Top of LA(Port Trunking) so it won't check for the VLAN membership of the Port. Normally only the higher layers will consider the lower( in this case MAC SUB Layer) so i think when u tried to aggregate both ports .they should aggregate & they should not b the members of vlanA or vlanB after this aggregation. Both ports should be in Default VLan & this should be taken care of VLAN module. this my thinking ...i wanna confirm whether this is correct or not. Thank You kiran
