Vasavi gaaru,
Thanks for re-opening this discussion. Well, your critisism made me to re-think on what I said, what I was following for past so many decades. Guess need to go to some Telugu Pandit (not the person who just holds a degree) and find out with him. Had I been in Hyd, I would have gone to my Telugu Guru, but I'm here in Chennai... Hope I find a right person soon. In the mean time, as you are in Hyd, if you can come across some elderly knowledgable people, please ask them and post your findings here. Thanks again.
Posted by: Durga Prasad At: 16, Aug 2003 6:12:00 PM IST This discussion of Mr Krishna Vinod is quite interesting.Follow up is also good.
As per Mr.Suryanarayana moorthy, I too think that there are no words in telugu
with the sound " Fa ". But with so many foreign words we are using so frequently
in our daily life,( For example:1.Maa abbayi state firstochchaadu. 2. Repujarige
functionki meerosthunnaraa etc.) I am sure the sound "Fa" needs recognition.
After reading Mr Durga Prasad, I have come to the conclusion that we telugu people
are entering a stage of confusion regarding pronouncing words starting with "Fa"
and "Pha". I am sure it is Seethaphalam but not Seethafalam, it is Phani and not Fani.
Mr Binny's kavitha is good to strengthen this discussion. Mr Aham Bramhasmi's letter is
interesting.Better if he comes out with some more details.
I think it is high time all elders who are empowered to make the useful changes to our
lipi, to study this problem and introduce a spesific letter to represent the sound of "Fa"
in order to save the language, the Italian of the east , our Telugu.

Posted by: Durga Prasad At: 7, Jul 2003 2:15:54 PM IST Mr.Krishna i think that the "pha" which we r using now can serve the purpose of word f"a" n need not introduce a new word. Our telugu lit far better than many other lits. in many lits same letter will be pronounced as "pa" "ba". according to the situation used there we should conclude whether it is "pa" or "ba". If we consider the confusions in those lits, this "pha" is not a big deal... this is my opinion...
