So, the soceity don't want to use their experience, mental capability. Pathatic. Like Mahesh said in one of his film that "At that age you know evry thing but you can't do any thing". Why not their intelligence as well as experience is utilized? If this is the case with senior citizens how about young people who are disabled?

Let us classify the senior citizens. 1. Those who secured 2. Those who are not Secured in the sense either savings, politics, business, pensioners, dependents on family members like son or daughter. Those who are not secured do not have family members, accident cases, inadequate jobs, alcoholics, drug abusers, etc. Shall we bring them all under one roof.

Ms.siri, i do agree with your thoughts. but if we look deeper, these thoughts seem to be secondary . the people in our society are changing.. its not the problem only for the people going to other countries . i can give you many examples of the NRI's who arent providing any assistance or help to their parents. may be you havent come across such people . more over people living in our country also are caring very less for their parents these days. many couples are reluctant to either live with their parents or let them live with them . this is a fact . who will help these old people when their sons or daughters dont care for them?? when they are helpless governtment should take care .. i agree .. but its not the primary issue . its we who have to take care of them first .

Current affairs are very " Shocking "

Posted by: Mr. M Kumar N At: 5, Aug 2003 8:27:25 PM IST
hey all, why not stick to our culture.. we have the practise of looking after our old ones at our home.. they live with us till death .. we take care of them till death as its our responsibility and duty. why not every one of us think this way .. our old INDIAN way?? why go for western thoughts and demand help from the govenrnment?? Old age homes are for people with no one to look after then .

Virabhadra Sastri garu, Lets be happy that APSRTC hasn't asked for more money from you senior people, as it is already in "losses". It always says that it is in loss. But they don't want to dig to find out the root cause for this loss. You might have experienced the Private buses running in AP are making high profits will less facilities and more price, where as APSRTC is safe, cheap but people don't travel in it(why is the question) and so it goes into losses. It is in the minds of our great AP rulers the closure of APSRTC!!!
