In what way are bureaucrats responsible for a company deciding not to open an office in Hyd? Any company can rent/lease/buy space and start. Or like Microsoft, Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Deloitte, Keane, Accenture, Cognizant, Polaris, and many more small companies.... they can buy land and build their own facilities.
And may I know the name of your company which was harassed by bureaucrats?
Posted by: Ms. sapna endurthi At: 6, Dec 2003 12:43:37 PM IST Ms. Dont generalise your comments, even many telugus also will take telugus only particularly if you belongs to the same caste of them in that case it is damn easy to get....
When we indians forget all regioanl difference, etc etc then only INDIA will be a developed country.
Infact tamilians respect others, like telugus they wont respect money.
Ofcourse money is needed but telugus are toomuch in that matter.whatever it may be go and see their profile surely they would have much fitted for the job.
There is so many factors in it you cannot generalise.
May be you can say telugus are lazy.(no likings to use their brain)
It is my point of view

Well Swapna, not only Verizon... but also my present company... we have 2 facilities in Chennai and wanted to expand, so thought of Hyderabad. But the so called officials harassed these people and ultimately our company decided to go for a full floor in TIDEL Park in Chennai. May be Microsoft, Oracle etc can have their offices easily in Hyd, as they are famous... those officials cannot afford harassing those big companies more. But they are not aware of our company... we(andhraites) missed the world number 2 company in IT services to come to Hyderabad. We now expanded to Bombay and Pune!!! Why? Where lies the problem? Beaurocracy!
Posted by: Durga Prasad At: 5, Dec 2003 5:38:41 PM IST Good..!! ...now we all can safely assume that " TELUGUS ARE NOT FOOLS AT ALL..."
whereever they are..emantaru ntvodu and swapna..(not specified)..?

Be prepare to such questions.""
instead ..i say be prepared to question such ppl or else find someone capable to question...c,mon now ...* don,t ask me how to question ..??*
FINALLY THERE SHUD BE A WAY TO SORT OUT THOSE FOOLS RATHER CONSIDER OURSELVES FOOLS..!!since our author says..".... the whole point of my discusson is how do we make our leaders realize that Hyderabad (and other AP towns) are more important for us than Chennai."
Posted by: Mr. aravind a At: 3, Dec 2003 7:39:16 AM IST We should not offend someone beliefs.
Posted by: Mr. M Kumar N At: 2, Dec 2003 9:43:04 PM IST anyway.... the whole point of my discusson is how do we make our leaders realize that Hyderabad (and other AP towns) are more important for us than Chennai.
Would mass emailing to Chandrababu help?
I am sure by now many of you have observed how even IT companies are being grabbed by Chennai. Verizon is a great example that I am personally aware of, where the decision was almost taken to operate from hyderabad, but was moved to Chennai because the VP operations is a Tamil. Many more .... are also being moved. Which is OK with me, but then they insist only on recruting from TN Engg colleges.
And even today there are groups in a large software company in Hyderabad where they are trying to move the corp office to Chennai. And in this company in 1999, the HR head recruited 1400 people or so from his state. His argument " I did not find suitable people in Hyderabad." !!! It was so blatant that even his own supporters were surprised. He was sidelined later.
Posted by: Ms. sapna endurthi At: 2, Dec 2003 12:53:56 PM IST all i am doing is getting you to the point what sapna is speaking...abt. there is no use sit, watch and cry foul later...!
"I heard one kannada guy who owns a software company in Detroit, where he can only hire kannada brahmins. "

Posted by: Mr. aravind a At: 2, Dec 2003 10:56:22 AM IST ""If telugus are foreign countries, thay have gone there on merit. I am not saying non telugus should not get jobs in AP.. all i am saying is that the tamils give jobs only to tamils even for attender positions. There is a company in Hyderabad owned by a telugu, where even the security guards were brought from interior tamilnadu, when the VP HR was an Iyer. When I went there the fellow could speak neither Hindi nor Telugu. Only Tamil !!!!! ""
""I know a case in a very well known US University where I was studying, wherein students who applied for PhD to a Tamil professor were told " I am not planning to take any PhD students" and every year he took only Tamil students, gave all of them teaching assignments, gave them part time work. I hear even today he refuses to take non-tamils. Want to know his name? and the college? ""
now since you have the facts...plz publish them in the right forum...we all from TP family will fight with you tooth and nail..ok
our rage to fight parochialism will be...Triggered by Sapna..!
Posted by: Mr. aravind a At: 2, Dec 2003 8:53:05 AM IST the telugu ganga canal also is upstream. that means the water has to be pumped. As i said in my post, I am referring to the parochialism of giving jobs based on regional considerations and not merit. If telugus are foreign countries, thay have gone there on merit.
Now let me tell you something. I know a case in a very well known US University where I was studying, wherein students who applied for PhD to a Tamil professor were told " I am not planning to take any PhD students" and every year he took only Tamil students, gave all of them teaching assignments, gave them part time work. I hear even today he refuses to take non-tamils. Want to know his name? and the college?
