General Forum: NRI - Information | INFLUX OF TELUGUS INTO UK | |
| apologies duly offered - I did get carried away with the high-and-mighty bit and I am very sorry.
the catch phrase being 'indian standards' don't you agree they are better in the western world? - I am talking about the material standards here - not the emotional/moral/cultural ones (which most Indians like to condemn - but that is a different story and another pet peeve of mine).
what is a lowly life by the way? (as compared to..........?)how dose one judge the quality of life??
the reason why I reacted so strongly was because I am sick of the attitudes of established Indians (those who came in the early and mid 90s)towards the ones who have just arrived and are struggling.
about the consultancies - sure I agree with you - they are a dime a dozen - but it is up to the individual to make a judgement and you cannot blame him/her if he/she make an ill-advised judgement.
Posted by: dhara d At: 30, Apr 2002 9:59:14 PM IST I will definitely pass on info about a good deal but not the deals where a person quits his job and comes all the way abroad to end up in some odd job. Infact, I myself came upon one such good deal. The point I want to make is dont compromise for a lowly life here to build a better life in India. And anonymous user, a question for you? Take a look at the number of consultancy services(so called) that have sprung up and the line up at the embassies. Inspite of bad market conditions here the queues dont go down. Most of the people line up becuase some of their mates are doing an odd job and earning good(in indian standards) and they just follow suit. Isnt this herd mentality? No one is acting high-and-mighty. It is all about being realistic.
Posted by: Pavan At: 30, Apr 2002 8:31:09 PM IST I agree with the views of Mr.Vaka Srinivasa Reddy. Its true that typical herd mentality of andhraites is at play again. People are just crazy to go abroad that they forget the quality of life they will be giving up. They come here all the way in the hope of finding a non-existent (preferrably IT) job. They end up in packed flats and lead a really unhygeinic and uncomfortable life. This side of reality is never projected. Instead it is only the savings that are projected.
I would suggest all the people not to fall into the trap of these of so called consultancy firms and end in a deep mess here. Dont PAY MONEY to these consutlancies.
Posted by: Pavan At: 8, Feb 2002 4:25:49 AM IST THESE DAYS WHEN ONE WALKS THROUGH THE LANES OF SOME PLACES LIKE HOUNSLOW AND EAST HAM IN LONDON YOU WONDER WEATHER YOU ARE IN UK OR HYD , THE REASON BEING YOU HEAR THE ALL FAMILIAR TELUGU WORDS(ALONG WITH THE SPICY

MONTHS TO BUY SOME INDIAN FOOD BUT NEVERR I
SAW SO MANY PEOPLE ,LATER WHEN I SPOKE TO THEM I UNDERSTOOD THAT OUR GUYS HAVE DISCOVERED THE EQIVALENT OF H1 IN USA AND THIS NEW WEAPON IS CALLED WORK PERMIT .THESE GUYS ARE DUMPED HERE BY CONSULTANTS CHARGING ANYWHERE BETWEEN 1- 1.5 LAKHS PROMISING A SOFTWARE JOB WHICH ARE NON EXISTENT ,AND THEY
END UP DOING ODD JOBS EARNING IT SEEMS ABOUT
4 POUNDS HOUR , BUT I SHOULD SAY THAT SOME OF THEM ARE STILL HAPPY AS THEY SAY THEY SAVE 30,OOO PER MONTH OF COURSE WHAT THEY ARE NOT SAYING IS WITH HOW MANY PEOPLE THEY ARE SHARING THE ACCCOMODATION AND WHAT THEY EAT. SO GUYS BE CAREFUL WHEN COMING BY THIS
