General Forum: Govt. and Politics | Abrupt Increse in Farmers Suicides: Possible Reasons | |
| Mr.MKN,
"I think the person who posted this topic is not at all clear about the facts;"
Let's face the reality.
Argument without logic would not have any charm or use. That is supposed to be possessed by the brains projecting weaknesses. People who have brains are those who have obviously nothing to do.
Try to get into the depth of the issue....coz I don't want to put it in words or verbalise, as it causes some kind of sickening sensation, "The factor what is prompting them to go for such a decision."
Posted by: Mr. karthik m At: 27, May 2004 9:58:03 PM IST "By ending their lives they hope to get support for their family from the govt. postumously."
Yes, say a farmer of age 30-35 (as it is happening) who is having debt of around 3,00,000 is committing such unfortunate and brutual act, practically he may get a compensation of 1-2Lakh.
And how about his family. For a failure in 1-2 years, he is going to take a decision that would influence 4 members throughout their life, socially, econmically, culturally and every possible way. WHAT ROLE WOULD GOVT HAVE TO PLAY AFTER THE PAYMENT OF COMPENSATION IN THE UPLIFTMENT OF THAT FAMILY???
Posted by: Mr. karthik m At: 27, May 2004 9:51:39 PM IST If death is only solution so many would have commited suicide Ms. Ambari, first clear about yourself, why to commit suicide, the one who dont have courage to face/lazy/to escape- they do like this. tell me is any other state in india is doing this kind of nonsense.
it is not a ridiculous write up, peoples are ridiculous in their behaviour especially in AP.
Posted by: Ms. srise Srinivas At: 27, May 2004 5:44:52 PM IST I think the person who posted this topic is not at all clear about the facts; Can any find a single fact in his statements; If so can you please list down for farmers sake instead of GOD sake;
1. In the first place are you mentioning about the farmers who own land and whom do not have.
2. Until ten days before there is a steady rate of suicides( This include the pretty election period); During the last ten days this sucide rate has abruptly shoot up ?
This is what you mean ?
Posted by: Mr. M Kumar N At: 26, May 2004 6:56:00 PM IST Unless farmers should realise that how precious their live/life, we cant do anything in this regard, how you will monitor each farmer when they planned to commit so.......
Posted by: Ms. srise Srinivas At: 26, May 2004 1:22:26 PM IST So what do you suggest karthick?
Posted by: Mr. M Kumar N At: 25, May 2004 9:53:41 PM IST Dear All,
In the last 10 days, farmers suicides have suddenly increased and the average is unfortunately is enhancing daily.
But one specific feature of this phenomena is this is prevalent across the state and not confined to any two or three dists.
We r hering them from Krishna as well as from VIZAG and quite commonly from Palamuru as well as from Ananthapur...
While the Govt has its own argument that the news of Compensation package has not effectively reached the farmers....
A section in the media has its own version that the announcement itself has been provoking people to take such unfortunate and helpless decisions.
An interesting point is the present party in power has made it a big issue while in opposition and came to power, and in its campaiging as well as manifesto announced that it is going to take care of victims of this problem.
Then the rate was not as high as it is today.
This picked up only when the decision really materialised.
SO ALL OF US, LETS SHARE OUR THOUGHTS IN A LOGICAL WAY ON THIS TOPIC.
