General Forum: Govt. and Politics | HC quashes Muslim quota. Do you support this judgement? | |
| Absolutely. Its all the gimmics that Cong govt is playing to grab the vote bank of these minorities.
It is absurd to provide reservations on religion basis, already we have so many reservations on various basis.
If this 20% sector gets 5% reservations, what about the remaining 80% sector? What about "other caste" people? Should they lose opportunity to get education & jobs inspite of having talent? Isn't it injustice? Is it their fault of being born in OC community with talent?
I personally feel that all the reservations should be removed. Only talented should be benefited. How long does these political parties want to drag this reservation issue?
Inspite of giving reservations, govts can provide basic awareness and motivation for these people to come up. I don't think that a guy who is born in backward family/case/religion or in a poor family will not have talent and intelligence to gain good knowledge and talent. If provided, he/she too can prove his/her worth to come up. Just by birth, one cannot become dumb. Only circumstances make a guy dumb or intelligent. What say?
Posted by: Bahud♥♥rapu Baatasaari At: 22, Sep 2004 5:29:40 PM IST A five-judge bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday struck down the Government Order providing five per cent reservation to Muslims in educational institutions and government jobs.
Justice Sudershan Reddy speaking through the bench found fault with the decision of the government in providing reservation on the basis of religion without identifying creamy layer. The bench declared that Section 11(2) of the AP.Backward Classes Act was mandatory and said that it was mandatory on the part of the State government to consult the BC Commission while providing reservations under the BC category.
The bench opined that there was no justification in the action of the govt. in exceeding 50 per cent reservation which was barred by Article 15(4) of the Constitution. Do you support this judgement?
