Posted by: ★Vinåyåkåm★ chitt♥♥r At: 2, Jul 2005 10:13:58 PM IST Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist (CPI-ML) Janashakti state committee member Riyaz and three others were killed in Karimnagar district hours after they were reportedly arrested in Hyderabad. Riyaz had participated in the peace talks with the government last year. Telugu news channels had reported late on Thursday night that Riyaz and three others were arrested here. Regional newspapers also carried reports of the arrests quoting police sources. However, four hours later, the police claimed they were killed in a gun battle at Muinikunta village in Mustabad area of Karimnagar district, about 180 km north of here. About 250 people have been killed in the violence since the eight-month long ceasefire between police and Maoists broke down in January this year. The Maoist violence in the state has claimed over 6,000 lives in 37 years.
