Hindu named Pakistan's Chief Justice
September 01, 2005 23:02 IST
Pakistan has appointed Justice Rana Bhagwandas as the acting chief justice of its supreme court. He will be sworn in on Friday.
Justice Bhagwandas is the senior-most judge in the supreme court after Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, who is leaving for China on a 10-day visit. According to Pakistan's constitution, the senior-most judge replaces the chief justice in his absence.
Born in December 20, 1942 into a Hindu family in Sindh, Justice Bhagwandas joined the Pakistan judicial service in July 1967. He was elevated to the Pakistan High Court in 1994 and joined the supreme court in 2000.
Besides graduation in law, he has done his masters in Islamic Studies.
Justice Bhagwandas is the second non-Muslim judge in Pakistan to reach the top position in the judiciary. Justice A R Cornelius, a Christian, had served as the chief justice from 1960-68.
Justice Bhagwandas is considered an expert on constitutional law

Most of the middle east countries based on monarchy, their legal system based on English common law and Islamic law; ultimate appeal to the monarch; has not accepted compulsory ICJ jurisdiction most of legal system based on Islamic law (sheriat) but India is democratic and is a federal state with a parliamentary form of government, legal system based on English common law; limited judicial review of legislative acts; accepts compulsory ICJ jurisdiction, with reservations.
And here some do not know exact political meaning of majority, minority, democratic, monarchy, reservation, legal system etc
So, I merely wasting my time here, I am kicking off from this thread my self …

Don't forget a christian / muslim is also a citizen in the first place and Indian. What ever be their religion they are Indians. They were abused in the name of cast. Now the abuse started in the name of religion. Onething everyone has to remind such things are not healthy discussioins. What I suggest those who left Hindu camp can be brought back to the camp. Treat them well. Don't neglect our citizens in the name of cast / religion. Recognize every citizen. Naturally every one feel great to their motherland.
The thread originator could have saked self was there any country that people in India suffered in the name of cast.
Start a campaign today for bridging gaps under cast and religion.
Don't forget all are citizens of India.
It's embrassing the way things are mentioned here. Don't make rule and form a Govt. neglecting the citizen of Indians. It's great their valuse are protected.
If someone's stick reaches any target(nose) make the stick owner responsible and accountable. Freedom to every citizen. Reservation is not a freedom but it's curbing their rights. Reservation in the sense those people are not deserved for education only a few % are eligilble for education. Some reserved for money.
Think in a properway how to improve 100%education, medical facility, civil supplies, infrastructure. These things will help the nation.
The thread originator should apolize the members.

The Basic Charter also provides that Shari’s (Islamic Law) is the basis for legislation. The Government permits worship for non-Muslim residents, govt itself allotted land to build the temples .Hindu temples exist on government provided land.

Recently, former Jammu and Kashmir chief secretary Musa Raza is leading the team. Other members of the delegation include Maulana Shafi Moonis, vice-president Jamaat-I-Islami Hind, Dr Qasim Rasool Isyas, All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Dr Navad Hamid, Movement for Empowerment of Muslim Indians. The modus operandi of this front is to visit Kashmir to create an 'atmosphere' in which Kashmiri Hindus can return to the valley with honor and dignity.
