| What's meant by PPA Prashanthiji?
Posted by: Mr. Vachaspathi V At: 12, Sep 2005 6:11:50 PM IST Vachaspati garu,
I got the material on PPA.
SHiFT has to convene a meeting and discuss internally.
Mr. Chandrareddy of MAD group is already involved in developmental activities in his village and he came across, BAIF, an organization started by the disciple of Mahatma Gandhi.
Mr. Satish, friend of Chandrareddy, will come back from his official trip in the third week of this month.
Mr. Praveen Kumar Reddy Bollaram is also in hyderabad and he may join with us.
So our meeting can only be possible in the 3rd or 4th week of october.
Thank you.

How is going on?
Posted by: Mr. Vachaspathi V At: 11, Sep 2005 10:26:07 AM IST Next point is, there are many govt. schemes (both central and state) for the upliftment of poor and welfare of women. Most of us are not aware of them. We need to get that list too.
...
Don't woorry Prashanthi garu...
Any MDO, RDO even district collector will definitely cooperate with us.
Posted by: Mr. Vachaspathi V At: 22, Aug 2005 10:48:05 AM IST I assessed DWACRA women at Ibrahimpur, a Lambada Village, near Parigi Mandal, Ranga Reddy district. DWCRA women needs more and more motivation. Close monitoring of their achievements is missing in majority cases..or groups. They often fail only to reorganise..again fail to reorganise...it's the phenomenon in many villages.
Posted by: Mr. Vachaspathi V At: 22, Aug 2005 10:45:23 AM IST I also want to remind one thing. This is all study. We are not into direct action. We do have ideas and we study thoroughly, we will come up with the reports of our study, weigh the pros and cons and then decide our strategy. So there is a long way to go. The more support we get, the more we can do, the faster we can realise our ideals and put them into practise.
Posted by: Ms. Prasanthi Uppalapati At: 22, Aug 2005 10:36:37 AM IST As far as I am concerned, I will get the details of PPA and also about 'Mentoring' a policy which I prepared based on the guidelines given to us.
Posted by: Ms. Prasanthi Uppalapati At: 22, Aug 2005 10:27:45 AM IST Bhaskar garu, Thank you for the support. Yesterday night I saw a program. It is about the youth in a village in Nijamabad. They instead of resenting unemployment, worked collectively for the allround development of the village and the neighbouring villages were also inspired by them and there is a remarkable progress in those villages. We need to get the entire story and the trials and turbulences of those people in their effort so that we can get their help in working on other villages.
Next point is, there are many govt. schemes (both central and state) for the upliftment of poor and welfare of women. Most of us are not aware of them. We need to get that list too.
We need to be very positive, hopeful and enthusiastic when we decide to work on such projects because there would be so many distractors too.

By the way, let us take our own time and fix a meeting especially on village issues. I think it could be the last weekend of September. Let us decide particular areas and announce here. We will be the resources in such area. By area, I do not mean villages but the issues/topics. Say for example, you can be a resource for the govt. schemes. Someone else can be a resource for various problems of particular village etc., etc.,
Everyone who are interested can participate. Even if they cannot attend the meeting, they can help as coordinators and share their knowledge and experience with us. Any help is valuable.

Posted by: Mr. Bhaskar At: 22, Aug 2005 5:17:12 AM IST Vachaspati garu, this is a well designed and carefully crafted program. So it is sure that people's assessment is correct.
Just use the key word 'Participatory Poverty Assessment' in Google. This is guided by MAST which in turn is formed on the guidelines of UK Government. I am not aware of exact administration details.

As far as PPA is concerned, it was carried out in 36 slums in Nellore and I was associated with an NGO which carried out the study in 18 slums. I was not with them when they conducted the study. I joined them as a translator but later involved myself.
