Posted by: Malakpet Rowdy At: 15, Aug 2006 7:58:35 PM IST Secularism deals with the behavior of "Hindus" "Muslims" and "Christians" .. it has nothing to do with the principles of "Hinduism", "Islam" and "Christianity" ...
Hope I am clear ....
Evaraina oka glaasudu manchineellidduru!
Posted by: Malakpet Rowdy At: 15, Aug 2006 7:54:17 PM IST SECULARISM IS A SOCIO-POLITICAL CONCEPT NOT A RELIGIOUS ONE ... IT MEANS "BEING UNBIASED" AND BEING UNBIASED DOESNT MEAN FORCING ONES PRINCIPLES ON THE OTHER ...
A HINDU DOESNT BECOME SECULAR BY MEANS OF CHANTING NAMAZ IN A TEMPLE .. IN FACT SUCH AN ACTVE IS IMMORAL AND ILLEGAL TOO ...
SECULAR CONSTITUTION GRANTS YOU THE RIGHT TO FOLLOW YOUR RELIGION IN YOUR WAY .. BUT IT DOESNT GRANT YOU THE RIGHT TO CHANT NAMAZ IN A TEMPLE ... AS I SAID EARLIER, ITS A CRIME!
AND YES, CHANTING ONE RELIGIOUS HYMN AT A SACRED PLACE BELONGING TO THE OTHER RELIGION IS LIKE SINGING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AT A WRONG PLACE ... YOU CAN NOT SAY ANYTHING YOU WANT AT ANY PLACE YOU WANT ...
AND THIS IS PRECISELY WHY "IT CAN NOT BE A TEMPLE ... AND YEAH CANT BE A TEMPLE AND CANT EVEN BE A MOSQUE!"
__________________________________________
US AND UK ARE NOT SECULAR COUNTRIES .. THEY ARE CHRISTIAN COUNTRIES AND MINORITIES ENJOY FREEDOM IN THESE COUNTRIES TOO .. SO THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT YOU DONT NEED TO DECLARE YOURSELF SECULAR FOR PEACEFUL COEXISTEANCE ..
__________________________________________
THE WORD "SECULARISM" HAD BEEN ADDED TO TEH CONSTITUION BY IN THE 70'S. BUT ALL THE RELIGIONS COEXISTED FOR CENTURIES EVEN BEFORE THE CONSTITUTION HAD BEEN DECLARED SECULAR..!
__________________________________________
YES A HUMAN CAN CHANT ANYTHING .. ANYTIME .. BUT NOT AT ALL THE PLACES ... I REPEAT YOU CAN NOT SUNG JANAGANAMANA AT A BAR EVEN THOUGH INDIA IS A FREE COUNTRY ...
YOU CAN NOT PREACH CHRISTIANITY INSIDE A HINDU TEMPLE AND VICE-VERSA EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE THE FREDOM OF THE RELIGION ..
REMEMBER ONE THONG .. YOUR FREEDOM ENDS WHERE MY NOSE BEGINS!

secularism uMDabaTTE manishi Upiri tIyagalugutunnaaDu. Freedom of religion never obstructs human progress but only hatredness and selfishness makes man from man to evil.
Posted by: Mrs. shaloo At: 15, Aug 2006 6:13:51 PM IST Posted by: Malakpet Rowdy At: 15, Aug 2006 3:55:13 PM IST and keertyji,
I'm asking you the same .why not "devalayam thread?"
Whether it is maMtrapushpam or namaaz or verses in bible it can be displayed in devalayam thread.I didnot understand your comparision to liquorshop or national anthem to this thread..Why you people are opposing it.?As if namaaz really read in real temples or visa versa.
I know about lotus temple .No 'God 'image is displayed in the temple. We can imagine our own God there. In the same way we can also chant the names of different Gods of different religions in one thread.
If this small point you people (90%)are reluctant ,then no need of any explanations by my side.
pujaaraa, mullhanaa lEka faatharaa chadiviMdi anavasaramu. A human being is enough to recite any of these different religious chants.'True knowledge' should be his qualification.
Posted by: Mrs. shaloo At: 15, Aug 2006 6:08:56 PM IST lets address this and resolve it once for all ...
Secularism refers to accommodating all the religions with the spirit of brotherhood ... but it doesnt mean imposing one religion on the other.
More than the Hindus, its actually the Muslims would would get .offended if someone chants Namaaz in a temple, in front of a Hindu God. (Some people say even typing the Namaaz in a chat site like this is an offensive gesture) - Moreover, the person chanting Namaaz should be a true believer in Allah.
I am not sure whether they allow Namaaz and Pujas in the so called Lotus temple ... and Lotus temple is not a SINGLE temple but a group of religious shrines.. it is not a DEVAALAYAM.
Chanting Namaaz/Vedas is a sacred activity and there are stipulated places for that purpose ... you can not play the National Anthem at a Discotheque n you can not fly the National flag in a Liquor Shop.. can you?
Posted by: Malakpet Rowdy At: 15, Aug 2006 4:13:19 PM IST Well, Shalu garu - so far I stayed aloof since I didnt see any point in fighting over this issue .. but since it reached the boilinbg point, lemme add my spice too :))
Why do u choose only a temple for that purpose? Why not a church or a Masjid?
May I know why u didnt support Mantrapushpam in Masjid & Church thread (Keerty opposed that one too... and even I agreed it was not acceptable) like you supported namaaz here, if it's an issue of secularism?
Devaalayaalena lokuva?
