General Forum: Current 'Affairs' | What is your opinion about the Nuclear Civil Deal? | |
| On 22nd, we all want to listen the opinions of experts including Mr.APJ Abul Kalam, in the Parliaments as Parliament is full of politicians. After all, we would like to see the fullest coverage of the proceedings in the Parliament on that day. It is sure that all the parties in the Parliament will vote in the Parliament on 22nd and as there are allegations of horse-trading, some parties demanding ministerial berths or demands – we all would like to watch what exactly happening in the

This one of the expert's opinion.
Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, says that there is no mention of nuclear explosive tests in the 123 Agreement. Hence there is no question of surrendering Sovereignty of INdia.

US is acting as if it is doing India a favour, while in fact, the businesses here need it badly.
I don't think the main objection in India is that is a nuclear power deal, but that the deal is with US, which is not an honest broker in any dealing with India. They always mix Pakisthan in the picture (consciously, subconsciously, or unconsciously!), complicating any straightforward deal.
There is no great rush to consummate this deal on the part of the Congress (House & the Senate). George Bush is a paper duck, and has no credibility with even his own party. John McCain, the republican candidate doesn't want Bush to come and campaign for him. Obama is a neophyte, who is still feeling his way around policy. He issues a statement, then clarifies it, explains it, refines it, and finally it has no resemblance to what he started with.
The country has a lot of problems of its own (housing, banking, Iraq, healthcare, ...) crises which will more than take up the time between now and the election time, and then there will the 'holiday season', and then the new president's cabinet appointments, ... Don't count on this issue getting the time it deserves until after that - not until Feb 09.
India is better off looking at France or Russia for the deal.
