in a gathering of mathematicians,everyone shook hands with four other people,except for two people,who shook hands with only one person.
if one person shakes hands with another,each person counts as one handshake.
what is the minimum number of people who could have been present?
what is the total number of hand shakes that took place??

in general,the rate is inversely proportional to the number of days kadhandi...
if the rate is hight,u can finish the work quickly.....like that....

nine women and seven men can do a work in five days as seven women and eleven men can do the same work in four days.
who is the better worker man or woman??? and by how much?
sol :
let the women work at the rate of X
and men at the rate of Y
then,
9*X + 7*Y = 1/5......... (1)
7*X + 11*Y = 1/4.........(2)
solving those two equations,
45*X +35*Y = 28*X +44*Y
i.e.
17*X = 9*Y
OR
Y/X = 17/9
hence,men are better workers(obvoius and natural) than women by a ratio of 17 to 9.......
