Who will give us donor cards? ____________________________________________ MOHAN (Multiple Organ Harvesting Aid Network) foundation distributes the DONOR cards for all the people who wish to Donate their organs. Theya re Chennai-based but have a branch at Hyderabad. (I am sure you would have heard about the lady who heads that Organization, called Lalitha Raghuram, who donated her Son's organs when he was declared brain-dead). We can make them mail you the donor cards, if you wish. MOHAN FOUNDATION is the brain child of a group of highly motivated, concerned and noncommercial group of practising medical professionals and their well meaning friends to promote the cause of “Organ Donation”. It aims to spread this message to the public. The Foundation also aims at working as a “Patient Support Group” and believes in the philosophy of "Prevention is better than cure". To popularise the cause of solid organ donation MOHAN Foundation launched "DONOR CARDS". By carrying this card an individual expresses his or her wish to become an organ donor in the event of anything untoward happening. These "DONOR CARDS" along with a brochure entitled "Priceless Gift" ( which explains about organ donation ) are being distributed free of cost to the people in Chennai and by post to people in other parts of the country. I fail to understand the technical words like brain-dead case. Please amplify ____________________________________________ Brain-death is the state of a person with a defunct brain in the sense that the Heart is functional but the brain can't function. This state is different from Coma since a person can recover from Coma but a Person can never recover from Brain death. a respirator can only help for a few days or weeks. In short, brain death is a stage where a person lives like a vegetable .. s/he jsu thas life since the heart works but Can not do anything since the brain is useless. People get into this state mostly due to, may God forbid, accidents and extreme cases of cerebral haemorrage. Taking out organs from a living person is illegal and taking out organs from a dead person would not serve any purpose ( excepting eyes taken out within 6 hours of death). So the organ donation activity is allowed only in the case of brain-dead persons. 3. Good morning Prasanthi & Malakpet Gentleman! Please clarify the following: 1. Who will give us donor cards? 2. I fail to understand the technical words like brain-dead case. Please amplify 3. Have we to give declaration now to the donor card issuers and if so, kindly give us their address. Myself and mywife are more than 70 years (me 78 and she 73)and unless we r greedy, we have to welcome the destiny any time. What I am afraid is some of our organs may not be useful if any thing happens when we r out of this place or away from our kids. Our family members know about our donation and there will be no objection from them.

Hello Grandpa, Good Morning. As you will be given the donor cards, you have to carry them wherever you go. So any untoward event happens at any place, the people there will give message to the hospitals in particular place. Yesterday the meeting went on very well despite very few members. Ratan Singh from ShiFT, Somya (our TP member) and Saritha (my friend), my mother, Chandra garu, myself and three others (relatives/friends of Sukumar Reddy garu) attended the meeting. I will try to post the details within this week.
