Task Force sleuths on Tuesday arrested two exhibitors for allowing minors to watch Pokiri, an ‘A’ (adult certification) Telugu film in two theatres in the city. Organised raids were conducted on Sri Ramana theatre in Amberpet and Sensation Sunshine theatre in Khairatabad by East and Central Zone Task Force sleuths respectively. Pokiri, starring Mahesh Babu, is being screened in the two theatres and was prohibited to minors.
The raids were conducted based on the information provided by Madan Mohan Reddy, a member of the Central Board of Film Certification. Task Force Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudheer Babu said, “The management of theatres are allowing minors to view Pokiri, which has an ‘A’ certificate.”
Assistant manager of Sri Ramana theatre Narasimha Reddy and manager of Sun Sensation theatre B. Srinivas were arrested.
Copies of censor board certificates marked as ‘A’ and counter foils of concerned cinema tickets issued to the minors were also seized. Police alleged that the theatre did not display any kind of ‘A’ certificate marks copies on the display board, violating the rules of Central Board of Film Certification. Cases were booked against them under section 7(1) (a) (ii) of Cinematography Act., 1952. The accused were handed over to Amberpet and Saifabad police stations, respectively, along with the seized property.
