Social Service - What are your opinions?

hi all social service is a service for which there are no boundaries and restricitions attached to... the basic thing is if one starts loving themselves, surroundings and the society then the service will automatically follows as that person can feel the belongingness... like Sri satya sai baba says LOVE ALL AND SERVE ALL i pay the expenses for medical and hospitalisation to one poor preganant woman every year for her delivery and child birth.....

One of my friends told me about her friend. He used to stay in a room with his friends. He used to pay for the academic expenses of the servant maid's children (two kids). Later he has to move to some other place in hyd and then to blr. But still he is helping the kids through the fiance of my friend (all these are classmates in engg.). I am really amazed and asked her to introduce him to me. I am looking forward for that to share with him the concept of MAD and to get his support and suggestions.

Hello Friends, Good Morning. Thank you all for your opinions. I agree with all of you. Malakji, I wish to add few more points to what you mentioned. Every citizen of this country (or any country) should feel to serve the country by helping fellow human beings. Our actions must be in such a way that we should make our people self-reliant. Give not the fish but teach how to fish. (correct the sentence.) 1) We should observe the happenings in our country and we shouldn't be indifferent to the woes of fellow citizens. 2) Spare some time and some money towards social causes. Try to campaign for all the issues and create awareness where it is needed. 3)Develop a sense of oneness (we are all humans then Indians etc.,) May I know how each one of us are doing the service? This is not for publicity but to inspire and to be inspired. Also to know the ways how we can serve the best. Social service doesnt end with you helping others .. it rather begins with it ... When you are helping a man by sponsoring his studies .. you would expect him to help two mpore people, when he is settled and this chain continues. In other words you must aim at building a team of social workers .. otherwise its just like you help some one, that person says Thank You, settles down well and leads his own life without bothering about the others .. Hope I make some sense here.

Socail service is a temp solution. It is a beginning. It needs some permanent solution. As I mentioned before a cahrity or an individual or a form serving cold drinking (potable water) in a remote area where water scarcity is there. Provision of drinking water at any public place is the govt reponsibility. Why nobody stress including the political parties. Is it not a cotizen right to get drinking water in a railway station / bus station / public place ? I see in vijayawada some business people even supply cold drinking water as business tactice to attract more customers. Petrol dispensing units no more exception from these tricks where customers used to line up for hours some ehre back 1990's. Now high ways and city;s are flooded with fuel disp stations. Social service is a temp service by a human being where the need was identified by himself without making a profit / business out of it.

The best service a person can do mankind is feeding him/her. Like free meals to the needy, as everyone knows how happy will a person be when he/she is given good food His/her joy knows no bounds.

I too agree with Mrs. Raji C regarding publicity to the extent that it involves self boasting like giving still with a groom as if sweeping, embracing old man as if showing equality, like these public stunts. But as Malakpet Gentleman said, it requires for motivating others and creating awarenes. In fact dedication is most important while rendering service. u know our Y's Men's International Organisation's motto is TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE DUTY THAT ACCOMPANIES EVERY RIGHT

Publicity may not be essential, but it definitely helps in motivating others. BY publicizing your work you are actually spreading awareness among people!

Hello Friends, I am going through the discussions in this category and found this one. I very much agree with Raji garu, the first and the best way towards social service is to be self-sustained. So what are the ways to serve the society? What are your opinions?
