Forgetting past does not mean one should completely blackout ones mind from the past.
One is obviously linked with ones past.
It is to say that we should not brood over our misgivings committed in the past nor should we bask in the past glories. Both are non-productive. You cannot do anything now for your past. You could only wish you could have done better. What use of it then to think of past.
Therefore, think of what you can do now for your tomorrow's future. You can do anything you wish today that will bear fruit in future. You have no control on your past but you still have some control on your future. Therefore, one should only live in the present and plan for future.
