| I got couple of tickets for my reckless driving, but, I got away from this one ticket. I was driving on the road at the night and missed my route already twice. When I realized that I was driving towards north when my destination is on the south, I got really frustrated and made a quick U-turn. While I was making that turn, I did not think about a car coming in the other direction straight on south. I almost bumped into that car and also noticed a cop car behind that. I was panicked as I already had lot of tickets for my record and my insurance rate is already rocket high and have no intention to pay more.
So, I took a slow turn to a gas station as soon as I made a U-turn. I know that cop is gonna follow me and he did. As he approached me, I pulled down my window and said that I am sorry. So, he came and asked me if I was drunk. I said no. Then, he asked me if I realized that I would have caused a big accident on the road. I once again apologized and said that I missed my road and did not know my way back home. I told him that I would be glad if he could help me with directions. He smiled and gave me right directions and asked me to drive carefully and had let me go. Sometimes, they are good. I guess, they understand the situation you are in.

Ananth gaaru you seem to be a very lucky guy in this driving thing. But I feel only an unlucky guy would get a ticket in US.
Endukante 1000 mandhi bakaraalu unte, paapam okka bakara ke ticket vasthundhi. Alaage ee Mega million oo thagilithey baaagundu naaku :) , instead of a ticket.

Oh Ananth gaaru u'r really lucky that you got some bucks back. I don't have any such stories as i came into US just 2 months back to do my MS. I live in my uncle's house, but I have another story to tell.
Just after 2 weeks i came into the US i started driving my uncle's car but in his apartment lot. But one day when he felt enough of driving within the lot, we thought of going onto the road.
We slept early in the night just for that early morning drive, I was just thrilled coz i would be driving in the US. The night's sleep was full of dreams as if i was driving BMW's in my future. So, we got up in the morning and started on our adventure tour, coz I had no form of driving license(not even an Indian one).
We started out with some initial hiccups( me faltering at curves, stop signs etc). I drove a mile or so and we reached Kroger store. From that intersection we decided to go straight to Harry's. Just when i started from that intersection and moved straight I saw in my rear mirror that a road monster was just behind me with no vehicle in front of me or on his back. gosh both my uncle and I were just panting. We had our hearts in our mouths, coz though my uncle has been living here for the last 10 yrs never he got a ticket for anything.
Even I was terrified because my first adventure ride will be a damp squib. But just took god's name and drove so carefully that at the next intersection the cop took a right turn and we went off happily straight. To say truly i never concentrated that much even to prepare for my exams.
So, that was my first scariest moment in the US coz when my uncle said this to his officemates they said that i would be deported back to India, if i was caught in that condition.
So, from that day no driving and just yesterday i got my learner's permit. So may be this time i am a bit safe.
So, be careful new entrants. Don't be over-enthusiastic like me:). Take time n things will work well automatically
