General Forum: Education | Admissions time. Should schools be banned collecting hefty fees in the name of 'donations'? | |
| Since donations are banned, u can always give new names and collect in other forms, u can give new names, like students development fees, buildings maintenance fees. To collect money, they can invent so many names.

Today ,schools not only impart education but they are also a second home to children ,particularly in the urban areas . If both the parents are working then ,I did say that the school happens to be the first home .
15 yrs back ,to run a school ,all one needed was a govt licence /registration and a building with all necessary infrastructure ,but ,as of date ,computers have to be provided to each child right from pre kg classes ,even though it is not of much use . The concept of air -conditioned classses has also come in .
Then provision of transport facilities likes buses vans etc .
mre over ,politicians have made it a point to fleece schools with regard to renewals etc ...
there are a lot many factors ,it would take hrs to put in many of the points
Posted by: Mr. Pit and the Pendulum At: 17, Jun 2005 9:43:14 PM IST School should be banned from collecting huge donations. But if a good school can ask for donations for its improvement of its condition if the Government is not ready to help it. A Good School in this context can be taken as a school which is giving good education and is also giving good guidance to the children for developing good communication skills and also guiding for a good Parent-Children relations.
Thank You for viewing this.

and repeated minutes in visual media?

Posted by: Malakpet Rowdy At: 14, Jun 2005 6:14:05 PM IST it is time that government intervenes and makes a uniform system in regard to fees structure in the private schools , irrespective how big or small it is. Like wise, there also has to be clear guidelines on donation system in school. Nobody knows, where the end money would be utilised. While several names are given to collect the donations, without mentioning the word donations. Atleast the commercialisation of education should be minimum and for the common good.
Posted by: DoBoy At: 14, Jun 2005 11:16:50 AM IST I totally agree with Mr.Vamsee.
The competetion and the market forces should drive and decide everything. If the Govt. imposes restrictions, there is no use at all and there is no meaning.
Education is definitely a business - a good business. News Papers and TV Channels are also businesses. Who says no? It should be left to the competetion to decide things.
If govt tries to do anything that kills competetion, our country is not going to develop. If schools are making huge profits, then more and more people and businessmen start schools - and that will bring down the fees automatically. Isn't that correct?
"good education without business motives..." this is a totally meaningless expression. The same applies to the Hospitals.
What we all need to do is to provide more opportunities to people and make them work and produce more. Let's utilise our human resources properly.
Posted by: Mr. Kumar SVS At: 14, Jun 2005 3:33:34 AM IST Education has become a huge business in India, particulary in Andhra Pradesh. Schools collect hefy amounts from parents in the name of donations. Even parents are inclined to pay with a (mis)conception that rich schools with big buildings would give good education to their children. Do you agree with this idea or defend that schools should impart good education without business motives. Discuss.
