Why does a 3.5 mn Benz car owner drive his car at my expense? I'm a tax payer and bloody he doesn't. Take off subsidy on Deisel. Take off subsidy on Kerosine. Let every one pay full price for cooking gas. How many hotels run their kitchen on "domestic gas"? How many auto walas and cabs run their autos & cabs on domestic gas cylinders? Why do we need to allow them? Cut them off. If I can't afford travelling by auto, I'll take up the famous Pallavan trasport. This makes huge amount to be pooled into subsidy. If a lower middle class villeger can't afford the cooking gas not under subsidy, let him go prepare for Gobar Gas plant in his villege along with several other like-prople. If a farmer can't afford buying deisel for his tractor, let him go buy bio-deisel (which was already tested good). Let Govt. pool up this money to find out alternative fuel.

As someone pointed out, a Re.1 Increase in Diesel would have brought down petrol price by Rs.6 .. something could have been done to balance the economy.

BJP criticize center’s decision to increase the price of petrol and diesel and say that it was the fourth hike since the UPA government came to power. All four hikes together amounted to a 25 per cent increase, which was unprecedented "in any single year after Independence." While the center maintains that hike was inevitable because of soaring oil prices in international markets. Though the spike in global oil prices and increase in duties warranted a hike of Rs 4.68 per liter in petrol, the government settled for Rs 2.50. Similarly, diesel price hike was only Rs 2 per liter despite the need to raise it by Rs 5.13 per liter says Petroleum ministry. However, Left parties who are part of UPA government say it is "unfortunate" that center did not take up the alternatives made by them to avert the price hike. Among BJP, Center and Left parties, which party’s stand do you favor? Discuss.
