Though all the learned people here expressed their opinion, I do not get the answer. I am just asking like why gods were attributed some colours. I still believe that there might be a reason behind it. I am not giving importance to colour, caste and creed of god. I believe god is one and I respect HIM in Shirdi Sai Baba's form. Thats it.

Prasanthi garu... God is actually shown in various forms here. What we need to know is the inner meaning of that incarnation of the God. Our Ancestors want to say that God exists in every form. Here are few instances described in our Histroy. 1. God comes in the form of Fish - Mastya avathara 2. in the Form Tortoise (Kurma avathara) 3. Varaaha avathara (Pig) 4. Narsimha Avathara ( Half Man and Half Beast) here actually competes one cycle, it symbolically shows the transformation of Living beings. 5. Vamana (Short Man) 6. Parushu Rama (A Man with Axe) 7. Sri Rama ( a King ) 8. Sri Krisha( a complete Man) 9. Buddha 10. Kalki( yet to come) In every form God tries to teach us the way of life. Check the form of Jesus...he taught us Love.... The incarnations simply signify the fact that God exists everywhere. Inspite of our History showing us what God is...people still try to view God from their perception. Just for an example : Anyway for your clarification : God is shown in Blue color by our telugu Cinema...and not by our history For your information... Kishna - in Black color ( unlike the blue Krishna shown in our Telugu Cinema) Rama - in blue complexion ( neeli megha Shyama) Lord Shiva - White Complexion( he always applies Ash to his body) Goddess Laxmi - White Complexion Goddess Durga - Dark complexion. Now tell me...does color has any significance here ???? Does it make sense to say that God is in White Color or Black Color ? Well.... the pathetic part is that people in this world still fight to prove their Gods(of their own imagination) to be superior to others. Anyway....this is my personal opinion....

prasanthi garu, this is just my opinion. in most of the dasavataaras, only vamana, parushuraama, raama, krishna were the only avataaras where in GOD is depicted as having a human face. i feel that budhdha and kalki were the avataraas added into the dasavataras lately. these were in order to restore peace and to convert budhdhism and other religions into hindu religion by identifying their main form of god as one of the avataras. and if we come to history, all these avataras evolved not in a matter of just years but instead in hundreds of years. when aryans invaded india, due to the utter unacceptability of aryans by dravidians, many wars were waged and many lives lost. in order to reconciliate with dravidians, aryans did the trick of depicting their gods as having the colour of dravidians (who were dark in their skin colour). another example of this sort is accepting shiva as their god. aryans did not have any concept of worshpping the nature.... like these many examples are there. eg: goddess durga, our local deities like ellamma, maaremma, peddamma, sunkulamma, nuukaalamma etc...all these deities are form of nature worship..... another best example of religion culmination is lord venkateswara marrying bibi nancharamma. just think of this...we treat lord venkateswara as kaliyuga daivam. and still have accepted the fact that he has married a muslim who entered india early in 5th or 6th century AD(sorry for the dates iam poor at history). anyone if i have spoken wrong pls correct me.

well said varaprasadgaru. it is the way ppl imagine GOD. humans view GOD as a human. if you become an animal, then u will imagine GOD as an animal of the race you belong. i feel lord Hanuman, lord Ganesh are forms of this sort of thinking. human being bored of imagining all GODs in human form, imagined them as having animal head and human body. whatever form you give, the GOD is one and only one. pasula vanne vEru paalEka varNamau pushpa jaati vEru puuja okaTi dariSanammulu vEru daivammu okkaTau viSwadaabhiraama vinura vEma

Varaprasad garu, I can agree with what you say. But my question here is why god is depicted in blue colour in few of His incarnations. I just wanted to know if there is any reason for it. I am sure there would be some justifying reason behind it.

Well My friend.... which God are you talking about???? Rama, Krishna, Shiva, Hanuman, Guru Nanak or Jesus? We have so many GODS. This is just the perception of the Artist who gives a shape to his imagination. What one has to know his how he wants to see the God as.... Either as Rama, Krishna, Jesus or Allah.... How can one ever conclude that God can look in Blue, white or Black color? Here's a Small example 6 blind students go a zoo park. The teacher takes them to an elephant and tells " This is elephant. You can touch and imagine how an elephant looks like.". One student touches the tail and thinks that elephant looks like a snake... one student touches the leg of the elephant and concludes that elephant looks like a pillar. In this way all the students come up with their own imagination. Well, everyone is correct in their own respective. But the reality is different. The reality is known when those 6 six students can view the elephant through their eyes. The moral of the story is that instead of believing what others say it is one’s own duty to know what God is.... nobody in this world can ever describe God fully.... until they open their inner eyes....

Can anyone say? In most of the photos, god is shown in blue colour. Why is it so? This is not my doubt. An article was written by one of the technical writers in a yahoo group under this title. I just wanted to know the actual reason behind it which might be explained in our scriptures.
