Padma Shri for sania mirza...does she really deserve it?

Good Question Do Boy .. hehe! I too had the same doubt. I would rather have pushed some one like Irfan Pathan for the same. Sania so far has one only 1 out of the 20 odd tournaments she played in .. with the success rate of 5% and that tournament too was conducted at Hyderabad amidst noisy crowd (and no top players). The Givt shoudl have waited until she won a few major tournaments.

Padma Shri for Sania Mirza... Hehe...She doesn't deserve it... Many sportmen/women R/were there who have done faar faar faarr faaarrrrr better than Sania... I donno, who gave that to her...Some dumbo would have proposed her name... In fact, she got verry unworthy big accolades for the verry little she did... sania doesn’t deserve this...infact if all the people are talking so much and creating hype over her being the Indian sport person...then what about anju george and numerous girls who did well in the past...but didn’t get any thing at all. Sania is marketing herself well. She is just going till quarterfinals and gets beaten... we, Indians are carried away by emotions/caste/religion/region. She has not achieved anything till date but for entering the quarter finals in only one grand slam till date. So did Ramesh Krishanan and Vijay Amritaraj. Sania is good looking. Media needs news with sensation. Advt sells hence these undue celebrations. She has a long way to go yet. I kind of agree that she shouldn’t b given an award so early such things and undue media attention can easily spoil her game she should learn from mahesh bhupathi who has don so well for India ,yet he has never been in the news for anytime other than tennis n that’s y he is playing as well as he used to a few yrs ago Let her come us as a tennis player gets some real glory to the country and use her fame constructively for the country. Let us give her a padma shri when she really deserves it maybe not at age 50 but when she wins a grand slam or two She too hyped. She is god-awful on service games. Let her win a few tournaments before u shower her with awards. At this point, she hasn’t accomplished much. We don’t want to produce players, we want winners. padma shri award - is appreciation award for person's contribution in adding to country's glory There are many real achievers. Who also showed talent in their own field? But it is fate of our great nation that we are ruled by stupid politicians Let sania achieve something worthier salt before she is given a padma shree , there 100's of Indian who are working for the prosperity and betterment of the country like unsung heroes off all NGO's and the SHG in rural India , The corporate which have dedicated time energy and money for the rural India . They deserve Padma shri not sania Mirza who has not achieved anything notable as off now,given her the level at the crème de la crème of international women's tennis, she might not proceed very far either....even if she does not, that will never take credit out of what she has achieved.

She represents ambitious and enthusiastic youngster of our nation and this award induces other youngsters too to achieve something great to deserve such prestigious awards.
