Given that the cut piece is perfectly rectangular, and in the direct center of the cake, (it would look like this ..:) )

one would simply cut diagonally,from the top right corner to the bottom left corner of the cake, producing two equal halves.

dont understand what u meant vikram ....but afaik u r wrong ... you need to cut only the remaining piec of the cake ....
btw phani got it right but didnt explain it clearly ...:)

lol ... remainder of the cake =) cake that is left after cutting a rectangular piece out .
PS: if u r rectangular piece is soo big then this remainder is a smaller one ;)
HINT: you can cut this rectangular piece from anywhere no matter what size .....:)
