(( Anyone who proposes to do good must not expect people to roll stones out of his way, but must accept his lot calmly if they even roll a few more upon it. ))

The indutructable hall of human memory contains two keys. One is made of iron and is called attchment. The other is made of gold is called detachment. The iron key opens the door of the house to lower life. The golden key opens the door of the house to higher life. Both the houses are in the unseen physiology of the human personality. At different periods of life, man wishes to open these doors, urged by inevitable impulse and interest, which shoot forth like meteoric showers from within the microcosmos.

You cannot control the mind by forcible discipline, that is, by denying all that is pleasurable. Discipline of the mind by force is like putting a snake in a covered basket. It will bite as soon as it gets an opportunity. However if we remove its poison fangs it becomes completely harmless. Similarly, the poison fangs of our mind, which are lust anger, greed, attachment and pride or egoism can be removed only by spiritual practice but not by simply forcing ourselves.
