The original word is 'mogamaaTaM' .
Pl. try 'one becoming helpless so as to oblige the other', due to his/her
inherent inability to say 'no.'
(May be lengthy, but hope it envelopes all the meanings given so far.)
There are many such words whose scope is so big that they cannot have exact equivalents.
For example, try
'chachchu vedhava'
'idi' (chilakamartivaaru gave innumerable meanings for,
this small word, whose normal (vaachya) meaning is 'this'
I think, in most of the cases, the context itself suggests the appropriate meaning.
(I remember a saying : 'If you do not understand the meaning of a word in a long paasage, better ignore it and proceed.. Normally the sentence may make perfect sense even without that word.'
Roommate : This is a Viswaamitra srishTi.
Already used as a telugu word! If you convert it again into English, you may get a situation similar to the one given below :
Hamilton bridge (in Madras) was locally pronounced as 'AmbaTTan bridge'. 'AmbaTTan' means 'barber'. It was retranslated as 'Barber's bridge' by the next census. Then, it was a tough time for the authorities to locate that new bridge!

hesitation means saMkOchaM, muMdu,venakalADaDaM. . Indecisiveness means inability to take a decision.

May be as Malakji said there is not an apt equivalent for that word in english. I still go for obligation.

2) The state of being obligated to do or pay something
"he is under an obligation to finish the

I had a discussion about this for 3 months with my friends and finally we all conculded that therez no English equivaleant for the word MOHAMAATAM .. which means Hesitation caused because of shyful nature of a person!
