General Forum: Current 'Affairs' | ARE POLITICIANS DOING SERVICE TO PEOPLE OR DOING SELF SERVICE? | |
| Kiranji, yes we must have the option to reject them. As of now we can invalidate the vote. Coming to the political parties themselves showing the alternatives, if they have them, why can't they project them?

Posted by: DoBoy At: 18, Jul 2005 3:59:56 PM IST Malakji, your intention is good. But where is the alternative? A govt. must be there and it should function. If there is 'Reject All' option, what would be the choice for the governors or the constitution? As long as the intelligentsia confine themselves to the discussion boards in media rooms, we do not have any other option.
If we are to start a movement, we should show the alternative too.
Posted by: Ms. Prasanthi Uppalapati At: 18, Jul 2005 3:33:33 PM IST It's time we have had a "REJECT ALL" option on the ballot paper.
Just a thought ..
CAN WE, AT TELUGPEOPLE.COM START A MOVEMENT ON THAT ISSUE? .. we can even talk to ppl like Jayaprakash Narayan!
It mnay start as a signature campaign but I am sure there will bne many ppl who would support this.

I do not agree with you. Think positively & then comment please. Should we not think of the background & virtues of the candidate? Last but not the least, his performance?
How positive are our discussions on the contenders at the time of elections? Should we be infected by 'Election fever' alone?
Posted by: SATYA RAMA PRASAD KALLURI At: 18, Jul 2005 2:29:12 PM IST Voters' have no choice!
They have to vote for the best among the worst!
Posted by: Mr. Vachaspathi V At: 18, Jul 2005 2:20:14 PM IST Yes, they are doing a lot of 'dis'service!
But, why blame them alone?
Democracy without educated voters is 'government by the cattle, of the cattle and for the cattle', as per Abraham Lincoln.
Then the government & politicians will be
'buy the people, off the people & far the people (this is not my quote please!)
A politician who was thrown away unceremoniously in the previous election is being brought back by our 'educated voters'
as well as 'uneducated' voters with equal vigour.
Is any voter thinking of the 'performance' of the incumbent?
Do not think that I am supporting any party.
I recollect the performance of our earlier Minister of State for Railways, Mr. Dattatreya. One day, when I was near Secunderabad Railway station, I happened to hear an announcement that this minister was available on Platform No.1 to note suggestions from passengers & know their grievances. On the spot I could write some suggestions and give him.
You will be surprised to note that most of them were implemented later. (of course, subject to the availability of funds etc.)
(He was maintaining a Web-site also for this purpose, I was told.)
Today, due to the 'mass hysteria' master-managed by the then 'opposition party', we have a different scenario.
We do not hear of any contribution from the new MP from the same constituency. (The only thing we can expect from such persons is 'keeping quiet' & lifting their hands in a 'favourable' manner, to the advantage of the 'de facto' prime minister

..First they work for themselves to save or earn money for the next elections, if they have time, they will think about the welfare of the public.
