Sting framed teacher in sex bust A week after a so-called sting operation by a private TV channel led to public humiliation and disgrace for a maths teacher of a government school, the entire operation has turned out to be a hoax and a blatant attempt to frame the teacher. The crime branch of Delhi Police on Thursday arrested the very girl who had been depicted as a schoolgirl being offered by the teacher to a client — the reporter — for money. The unedited tapes of the entire episode revealed to the cops how the teacher, Uma Khurana, was actually a victim. The girl, who was earlier reported to be neither a schoolgirl, nor a prostitute, was arrested under the charge of giving false evidence after the investigators watched the unedited tapes and recorded the statement of the journalist. The police refused to divulge the identity of the girl but the arrest clearly suggests that the police have found no evidence against Khurana, something that has become increasingly clear over the past few days. The girl has been arrested under Section 192 (fabricating evidence), 193 (punishment for false evidence), 211 (false charges with intention to injure), 419 (impersonation) and 420 (cheating) of IPC. The cops said they were on the verge of registering a case against the reporter who conducted the entire operation for giving false evidence and accusing Khurana of being a pimp supplying girls from the school where she was earlier teaching. The airing of the episode featuring Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Vivek Vihar, had led to mob violence for about four hours near its branch at Turkman Gate last Thursday. Khurana had refused to provide girls New Delhi: The crime branch of Delhi Police on Thursday arrested the very girl who had been depicted as a schoolgirl being offered by Uma Khurana to a client while giving the teacher a clean chit. The police, after examining the unedited tapes of the sting operation said they could not find any evidence implicting Khurana. A senior police officer told TOI: ‘‘The unedited tapes revealed that the reporter, Prakash Singh, met Khurana by posing as a businessman and offered her a lucrative job. Singh then asked Khurana to arrange for girls for his clients, which would help them in expanding their business.’’ The officer pointed out that on the unedited tapes ‘‘it can be seen that Khurana during the entire operation refused to provide girls saying she had no such contacts. In fact, it was the reporter who then broached the idea that since she was teaching at a girls’ school, it won’t be difficult for her to make girls available, but Khurana refused to do so.’’ The officer said that faced with this situation, the reporter then persuaded a friend — the girl who has been arrested — to pose as a prostitute in order to ensnare Khurana. The investigations have revealed that the motive for targeting Khurana was the reporter’s bid to help his friend, Virender Arora, settle scores with her. Arora, who is now in judicial custody, had a financial dispute with the teacher and found a willing accomplice in the reporter. ‘‘The reporter asked the girl to contact Arora, who in turn told Khurana that he could provide a girl. The girl was introduced to Khurana by Arora,’’ said the officer. Interestingly, the operation had been conducted by Singh while he was a trainee at a news channel a few months ago but that channel didn’t air the report because of many discrepancies. When Singh joined this newly-launched channel, it aired the tapes which led to the arrest of Khurana by the cops who were under public pressure. Singh’s previous employers have given a statement to the cops against Singh, alleging that he had stolen the tapes from their office. All this has left Khurana with shame and stigma. She is now in judicial custody and the cops aren’t clear by what process she will be set free. The Delhi government, too, was quick to first suspend and then sack Khurana within hours of the channel airing the story. It claimed to have terminated her services on the basis of an inquiry after viewing the CD of the sting operation provided by the channel. Led by the education secretary, the special committee constituted by Delhi’s education minister, Arvinder Singh Lovely, took action on the basis of what they saw on the edited tapes. Lovely said on Thursday that ‘‘only after the crime branch officially informs us of the findings of the investigations will I be in a position to comment. But if the crime branch gives us in writing that the CD the special committee saw was doctored, then I will ask the committee to review the matter as the dismissal was based on the identification of the lady in the sting operation as Uma Khurana.’’ Courtesy: TOI , NEW DELHI

Dear Babugaru, Please learn a thing or two from Mr.JP. See his statement in the attached link. http://www.eenadu.net/panelhtml.asp?qrystr=htm/panel5.htm Don't try to poiliticise everything and don't try to instigate communal flare-up. Don't forget that these things happened during your tenure also. Did you resign from the post.
