Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University through the School of Language Development took up the cause of Telugu Language for inclusion in ‘Classical Languages’. In this connection, the university has conducted seminars and organized meetings. The university also sent representations to authorities, political leaders with a plea to accord ‘Classical language’ status to Telugu. Some of the activities conducted by the Telugu University through the School of Language Development are given below. 1 Conducted a one day seminar on “Telugu as a Classical and Second Official Language of Union of India” on 8th January 2006. Political leaders like, Dasari Narayanan Rao, Vithal Rao, Y. Venkateshwar Rao, D. Devender Goud, Survaram Sudhakar Reddy, Mandadi Satyanarayana Reddy and press persons from top local dailies have participated in this seminar. The participants in the seminar have unanimously resolved to represent cause of Telugu language for inclusion in ‘Classical Languages’ and to accord the status of ‘Second Official Language of Union of India’. 2 Requested the Cultural and Literary organizations within and out side Andhra Pradesh to conduct seminars and pass resolutions for inclusion of Telugu in ‘Classical Languages’. In response to our request many Cultural and Literary organizations from all over India and other countries have conducted meetings and passed the resolutions. 3 Conducted a National Seminar on ‘Telugu as a Classical Language and Use of Telugu Language in Various Domains’ on 20th and 21st February 2006 in connection with International Mother Tongue Day. Scholars from Linguistics, History, Culture and Literature have participated in the seminar and established the classical status of Telugu with written evidences. 4 Vice-chancellor, Avula Manjulata, has represented the case of Telugu to Honorable Prime Minister of India, Minister of Human Resource Development and State Minister of Human Resource Development for inclusion of Telugu under ‘Classical Languages’. 5 Some of the academic staff from the School of Language Development participated in preparing a document establishing the classical status of Telugu for submitting to the ministry of Human Resource Development. 6 The School of Language Development will be publishing shortly proceedings of papers presented in the seminar on ‘Telugu as a Classical Language and Use of Telugu Language in Various Domains’.

Parasuramaiah, a Telugu pandit at ZP High School in Chilamattur, allegedly committed suicide on Monday night in his fields near Budidagaddapalli village of Gorantla mandal by consuming pesticide mixed in liquor. His body was found on Tuesday morning. He left a note stating that nobody was responsible for his suicide. - Staff Reporter

Nagarjuna College of Pandit Training (Telugu), Nidadvol. The Nagarjuna College of Pandit Training (Telugu) is a sister institution of Nagarjuna College of Education established by Nagarjuna Technical Society at Sankarapuram of Ravimetla Village, Nedadvolu Mandal, West Godavari Dist, Andhra Pradesh. Accordingly the first batch counseling 50 Students got admitted in 2003-04 and successfully completed their course with 100% result. The 2004-05 batches i.e. the second batch of student’s also secured 100% result. Mover over them surpassed their seniors by securing all the 100% First classes. At present the third batch 2005-06 is in progress.
