That's how the thirsty crow used it's brain when it was thirsty.
Man cannot behave like crow but he knows how it behaves and how far it is useful.
In African Desert it's difficult to locate natural spring water sources; Even if you know it is difficult to trace it. Monkeys are best navigators in the desert as well as forests. People catch a monkey
( Africans put some item in a narrow whole while the monkey is observing. Monkey will close the grip to takeout but it can't takeout it's hand still folded and it can;t leave the item it's holding)
Africans catch this monkey and dopes with salt which makes the monkey very thirsty and runs for searching water in to the desert or forest; If you follow the monkey plenty of natural spring water will be available.
Summary:
Man cannot do exactly or identically what other creatures are doing in the nature. His greatness lies there that he observes the nature of the nature and makes to use of it for his personal benifit.
If you look into the nature of the Crows it can observe / identify / search it's food and water from the height ( birds view) but not effectively from a ground level.

Physically there are no two persons but mind behaves like two or many. Some times the imitations will dominate the real character. In such case what will happen; The inner things comes out and looks for it's satisfaction.
It is the same with a person two ID's. They behave in a different manner.The owner of these ID's having ONE mind only but many thoughts.

A progressive mind needs quick jumps to reach higher & higher targets; Flubber one such invention replaces rubber.

If we are talking about others mind we call it analysis and case studies; Case studies are nothing but the social crimes which we come across daily in various news.
