Another important reason for the defeat is the Contentment Factor. The people who were happy with the rule of NDA didnt go out and vote (Some survey by ORG MARG said that the pre-poll prediction of NDA returning back to power made the NDA voters complacent .. though I dont buy that argument) where as the people against NDA voted in large numbers - unlike in 1999 when even the pro BJP voters stood in long queues and voted against Sonia and Jayalalitha who were responsible for Bringing Vajpayee's govt down!

I say, BJP is the true secular party, Hindus are true secular people. But India is NOT a secular country ever after independence.

I think ,Advani made the statement ,just to point out that Nehru ,wasnt secular . Jinnah wasnt considered as a prime ministerial candidate because he was a muslim . Advani was just having a dig at the Gandhi family .
The RSS knows that pretty well ,after all Advani is a seasoned politician and not stupid .

As of Today Indians are still secular Crocy, they still coexist peacefully and among the common men you dont see too many skirmishes on the basis of community...
U dont see members of a particular community being hated just because they belong to that community. Situation hasnt gone that far as of June 15, 2005
