Just think for one second that every girl in this world decide that they dont need marriage if they have to give dowry .... So where will we go then? My opinion is that the need of a guy for a gal is exactly the same as that of a gal for a guy. If ppl can get this point then Its obvious that dowry shud be abolished.

Moreover, it is the girl's property. Why should it be given to the husband / husband's family?? Does the husband his property to the girl / girl's family?

Ravinder! All the property going to only sons is not correct. Indian constitution gives equal rights to both daughter and son. So, when the father/mother decide to divide his/her property, let both the son and daughter get equal share. Why do it at the time of daughter's marriage?

I am against any force ful means of taking dowry. There is nothing wrong if a father wish to give her daughter something he earned during his life time.
Any system has its own pros and cons, It is left to the people how they want the system to function.
BUt just give a thought in a family, All the property of the family goes to only sons.
While daughters never get any share.
So why don't u think dowry as a means of giving something to daughters.
