It is our mind which is responsible for all our miseries and limitations but again this same mind can help us to get over all our limitations and inefficiencies.Raj yoga meditation teaches you how to get hold on your mind (not control but regulation)and there by you can achieve all that your are aspiring to achieve through regular practice of this meditation which i have been discussing about since last ten months in this db.The sahajmarg system of rajyoga meditation is best suited to achieve all these aspects of self improvement ,in spite of our own mechanical modern life provided we have that inclination.Once you realise that the remedy lies within you yourself and there is no necessity of external search then you have taken the first step towards your objective. All the improvements and positive changes that you are aspiring to achieve can be achieved in no time if you start doing something in that direction.thousands among us around have been benefitted by this practice and there is no question why not you too?I had similar doubts earlier before i started this practice and now i don't have any doubt about the improvement that is taking plce within me though in a subtle manner.so stop worrying about your present state and start doing something that enlarges your inner vision and brings out the best of yourself soon.

/Living low means living away from complications that arise out of our ego consciousness..../ 1.Can you please elaborate a bit more? I understand what needs to be done but am not quite sure on the hows of it. 2.Does low living also mean cutting down extravegence in living.. having very few needs, not looking for happpiness from outside sources? Also I need your inputs on ... How we can check our ego. How can we become less elated by our victories and become more tolerent of others' faults/mistakes? How can we become less worried about our failures and not become jealous of others' achievements? How can we increase our capacity to be compassionate with everyone that we interact with? How can we remind ourselves of the "ultimate goal" and not be affected by the smaller and insignificant issues of life? Respectfully, Seeker

Living low means living away from complications that arise out of our ego consciousness which most of the times dominates our will force.the best example for this is the way a seasoned swimmer overtakes a wave in high tide by bending low underneath to pass off the wave to move on or swimming against the high tide by bowing down whenever confronted by the waves. If we compare our life as the sea of high tides then we need to emulate the example of such seasoned swimmer if we want to pass through the miseries of life we need to submit ourselves to our fate with minimum ego or without ego to reach our final destination which is beyond reality. And high thinking means not to get attached to worldly desires but aiming high to get above our attachments keeping our ultimate goal in our vision constantly without any deviation or diversion. These two qualities are complimentary as well as supplementary to each other - one promotes the other automatically if sincerely followed.

when our elders said that high thinking and low living brings man nearer to reality means this only.satsangham with people who have oriented their thought and action towards Reality lead us to the real life worth living. But unfortunately people are following it in reverse-low thinking and high living thus shattering their life leading to misery.

YOU HAVE FREEWILL Some ignorant people say: "Karma does everything. It is all destiny. If I am destined by my karma to be like this or like that, why then should I exert? It is my destiny only." This is fatalism. This will bring inertia, stagnation and misery, This is perfect misunderstanding of the laws of karma. This is a fallacious argument. An intelligent man will certainly not put such a question. You have made your own destiny from within by your thoughts and actions. You have a free will to choose now. You have freedom in action. A rogue is not an eternal rogue. Put him in the company of a saint. He will change in no time. He will think and act now in a different way and will change his destiny. He will become saintly in character. Dacoit Ratnagar was changed into Sage Valmiki by the current of Rishi Narada. Jagai and Madai, two rogues of the first order were changed by the current of Nityananda, disciple of Lord Gouranga. You will have to desire, to think, and act. You can change karma in any way you like. You can become a yogi or jnani by right desire, by right thinking and by right action. You can attain the position of Indra or Brahma by good karma. Man is not a helpless being. He has free will of his own. Man has power to choose between the alternatives which fate brings before him. In choosing between them he may either follow his tendencies produced by his past actions or struggle against them. The will of man is ever free. The arguments which are advanced by determinists in saying that human will is determined are not sound and tenable; they fall to the ground. Dear friends! Man is the master of his destiny. Wake up now from the deep slumber of ignorance. Never become a fatalist. Think rightly, Act rightly. Lead a virtuous life. Never hurt the feelings of others. Mould your character. Purify your mind. Concentrate. Thou art nitya mukta purusa (ever free spirit). Tat Twam Asi - Thou art That. The samskaras (habit-patterns) of virtuous actions are imbedded in the citta. They are also indestructible. They are real, valuable assets for you. They will prevent you from doing wrong actions. They will push you on to the goal. Selfless works will prepare the ground of antahkarana (the psyche) for the reception of the seed of jnana. The path of karma yoga eventually leads to the attainment of infinite bliss of the self.

Can you elaborate on how we can get rid of evil thoughts / actions? Despite reading about it and understanding it when it comes to practising it I fail miserably.I succumb to anger, lack courage to do right, fail to accept misdoings of others. Quite often I find myself to be dishonest. I know I am but am not able to corect myself so easily. It is taking huge effort to correct a small habit. At this rate I am worried that it will take for ever to become anywhere closer to a true seeker. Can you give me some tips with practical examples if possible on how to overcome temptations, be compassionate and honest? I am sure I am doing something wrong, it should not be so difficult to do what is right. Regards. Seeker

well said.most of us seek outside means to get happiness but forget that the key to happiness is within us itself. If we somehow get rid of all un necessary thoughts that arise out of our own will force, what remains is only peace and happiness.

Unfortunate but true. Our goal should be to reach that stage which is beyond all worldy pleasures. It looks contradcitory to give up all pleasures to become happy but it becomes apparent when we understand that what we perceive as pleasures are not indeed happiness causing but are obstacles to what is real happiness. The realization does not come easily. It takes time and effort on the part of the seeker to realize it and then practise it. Seeker
