1.If a woman wants to make a complaint in a police station, she can make a telephone call to the police station and the police will come to her house for taking her complaint. At the time of the complaint, the woman can bring in some other persons for her assistance. 2.If any crime happens in the night, a woman can give complaint the next day and in some cases even two days later if it is reasonable. 3.Even if the police want to make any enquiry, the police have to come to the house of the woman only in the day time. 4.A woman need not go to the police station to make a complaint. The police will come to her house. Posted by: Brenda James At: 30, Dec 2005 11:41:55 AM IST ... Yes. Any women who has an enlightened mind set can do it. If the police fails to come up to her rescue she can go for other alternatives. The state just can't escape from it's responsibilities, if citizens are active. NCW will come to her rescue, even it is an advisory body only, via other avenues.

The main hinderances that the women face in the society are: 1. Resistance from the family (for the family is denying her right to get educated/employed) 2. Social Taboos (for the society is denying her rights) 3. Lack of will/interest (due to the prevailing social conditions) If these three things are addressed properly and quickly, it wouldnt take more than 6-7 years to see the first batch of women really making it big ( I am talking about the women next door .. not the CEO of Biocon or the Director of ICICI) But the Govt needs to spend more and should provide more logistics to the people if it wants to handle this .. hence its looking out for the short-term solutions Posted by: Malakpet Rowdy At: 22, Dec 2005 4:14:53 PM IST ... Yes. //1. Resistance from the family (for the family is denying her right to get educated/employed) 2. Social Taboos (for the society is denying her rights) 3. Lack of will/interest (due to the prevailing social conditions) ..These are things I am talking about. //But the Govt needs to spend more and should provide more logistics to the people if it wants to handle this .. hence its looking out for the short-term solutions ...Women must compel the governments to do so!! There are various organs for them like National Human Rights Commission, National Commission for Women and various NGOs.

Is the situation conducive for a woman to walk into a police station and ledge a complaint? Suppose, a woman does complain, who would guarentee that the soicety doesnt start questioning her conduct the very next day? Isn't the responsibility fo the Govt as well as the society to create an environment that atleast allows her to complain about the crimes perpetrated on her? Posted by: Malakpet Rowdy At: 29, Dec 2005 4:34:29 PM IST ... Government is a state organ and elected by the people. If people want change of atmosphere in society, they can demand the government for laws of protection. Stringent punishment is needed as a deterent to stop the crime.

At many cases a girl child receives the answer 'No' from her parents and brothers. It's a negative attiude that stops women to think beyond the horizon.

Planning Commission of India has advised the Central Government and the State Governments to remove the existing subsidies and not to make the new susidies on their policies. But it did not say anything about 33% of reservations for the women.

Posted by: Andhra Ammayi At: 29, Dec 2005 10:14:04 PM IST ... Relax !! Art.14 says Equality before the law. It means not all the inequals are before the law. Inequals are inequals before the law. Crime committed by women is different from that of men. Crime committed by child is different form that of adult. Crime committed by desperate is different from that faction fighting. I think I am clear expressing my opinion. If women are grown in such an atmosphere of free from superstitutions, various socio-cultural shackles with enlightenment she will fight on her own, or at least can predict the forthcoming dangers and threats. Despiting having everything legally in support of women, there are not in a position to take care of themselves as the enculturation is like that. In fact, laws are not made by women. Few women participated in the legislation. There are news disclosing Rapes are being committed before the eyes of husbands and brothers. That's why I said, during troubles and problems she compelled to fight a lone battle. How many women can knock the doors of Police station for their grievances. If they visit the police station freequently with the help of, the situation at the Police Stations may get changed. But....
