This is also very close and is doable I guess, the only thing - you dont need to keep it on until close to its lifetime.
So that boils down to...
Turn on 1st switch, for like 10-15 minutes and off it.
Then switch on the 2nd one and enter the room.
The one glowing corresponds to the switch you just turned on and between the 2 off bulbs, the hotter one is first switch and the remaining is for the 3rd switch.
Good job Shwetha and Malak!

The Solution I tholught of for the bulbs problem ..
Swtich the first one on for a looooooong time... (May be a couple of minutes less than its life-time)
Then switch the second one on and enter the room ..
The bulb that burns out first belongs to first switch, the bulb that stays on is the second and the bulb that is off is the third ..
Just to improve Shweta's solution, you dont need to switch the second bulb off ...
Hot one is 1, Glowing one is 2 and the Cold one is 3!
Posted by: Malakpet Rowdy At: 4, Oct 2007 11:00:57 AM IST So who is/was Vennela? :D
While we wait for Malak to get back to us, I remembered this one, not sure if its a repeat but anyway its worth posting it again!
~There are 3 light bulbs in a tightly enclosed room, where the light cannot get out. The switches for the 3 bulbs are outside the room and we dont know which switch is connected to which bulb. You are initially outside the room. By entering only once into the room, you should figure out which switch is connected to which bulb.
