I have read the article for which the link was given in Govt & Politics... It was really great. I have seen few countries, where every one is same as far as Govt is concerned. For example, take France. France schools banned wearing any religious appearance. They actually targetted at Muslims, but they themselves are being affected by that. Even then, they haven't relaxed it or limited it to fewer communities. Christians shouldn't wear cross symbols, muslims purdah or head scarf, Sikhs pagidi/turban. All are banned! Why does such things cannot happen in India? The equality?

I thought I asked "Does it apply to any minority or only Religious minorities?" When u say "Ethnic group" does it apply to all the groups based on Language, Caste, Religion, Region, State, Town and Street?

Friends, Lets not ask people who doesn't know any thing about any thing. Instead, let other people put their views on Secularism here! What say?

Software Professionals don't have that big brains as that of "other" professionals, hence we try to understand something fully, without any ambiguity. Well, I guess we are discussing about Secularism, not Democracy. Equality. How do you bring equality? By starving a healthy child to death and give all the food of him to the weaker child?

Vevaji, I dont understand why things are going personal here .. so what if someone is a software professional .. going by your own definition even the software professionals have te right to express their opinions right? and Coming to your principle that "Majority can not over-rule minority" .. Does it apply to any minority or only Religious minorities?

Veva Ji, thizz what u have said _____________________________________________ If Congress started thinking about this, it's nothing but another controversial debate in India. Because some sections are ready encash it. Posted by: Mr. Vachaspati Velavartipati At: 1, Jun 2004 8:06:49 PM IST _____________________________________________ So, u mean to say just for the sake of "Avoiding Controversy" Congress refused to define secularism as a principle that treats all religions equally :o and it is precisely the reason for the current mess? I still dont understand whats wrong in defining secularism as something that defines equality But isnt it funny to read so called "COMMUNAL" Jan Sangh / Janata Govt defining secularism as something that proposes equality among all the religions and the so called "SECULAR" congress not agreeing to that definition?

Mr.VV and other Journalists: Do you agree that Congress and Left are religious parties? If not explain why?

In our Bharat all are talking about Secularism and equality etc.. In daily life, we never experience these things in India. The parties are working on devide and rule policy. The split in the society is going upto maximum possible micro level day by day. Religion caste relative close relative family brother wifes brother etc. Just we are used to these level of references in every moment of life in India. Simply our political leaders are using and protecting this for thier welfare. still we have a hope to make our society real secular ( not our political leaders definition)
