General Forum: Current 'Affairs' | Talks between Govt. and Naxals : Can we expect peaceful life? | |
| Dear Malakpet Rowdy,
This is not a caste issue. It is a naxalite issue. I am only anti naxals. This is a topic for naxal issue isn't it.
I raised the issue of adhibhatla kailsam without referring to his caste. I started by saying that he was a man who stole the lands of people who worked hard and earned it. I know many farmers in srikakulam who used to save every rupee from their output so that they could build a decent wealth. they used to deny proper clothes, and other small necessities of life to themselves so that their children could lead better lives. at the end, when a naxalite leader like kailsam comes and makes others occupy their land or prevent it from being tilled or cuts off the canal, is it not a crime against humanity?
what is so great about kailsam that mr sarma has to bring up their family history here. who asked him about it?
he says that his clan has gone to usa based on their 'natural intelligence' which enabled them to study. is it not a fact that it is the wealth of 1650 acres that enabled them to afford the studies, the books, the schools, the colleges, the tickets to go to usa in those days, the resources to live there in those days when 'aid' was not common?
given an opportunity everyone can study. there are numerous examples of people with very limited resources, no educational background in their families who have done MDs and PhDs because they could get an opportunity to study.
My argument was that kailsam destroyed the ability of many farmers to uplift themselves by educating their children because at that stage in their lives, when education was emerging in rural India, he stole their resources and destroyed them completely. They could not recover in their lifetime. It is with great struggle and efforts that the next generation could educate themselves and come to a certain stage. As a result, they were one generation behind their classmates, who, by virtue of being there earlier, could know about, had the resources, had the support and mechanism to go abroad, or study engineering or medicine or law or get into the IAS etc.
If Kailasm had not destroyed those families they would not have lost a whole generation and fallen behind by 50 years.
It is well known and accepted in AP that in the early days, seats in Andhra Medical College, Guntur medical collges and state engineering colleges were given to the kith and kin of those teaching there. Was it not due to an undue 'first mover' advantage?
This first mover step enabled them to get there first into IAS, IPS, State Departments, Railways, Etc. Then they ensured that the money made there could be used to send their children to England and USA.

Posted by: Malakpet Rowdy At: 8, Feb 2005 4:13:58 PM IST "Naxalism is a crime against humanity akin to untouchability. It is the enemy of development and tries to gain intellectual legitimacy by exploiting plight of poor and the weak. A non-political and nationalist approach is needed for this problem"
-- LK Advani (June 15, 1998)
"Naxals are opposing development work (in Andhra Pradesh) because they want their areas to remain backward. Therefore, people don't support them these days"
-- N Chandrababu Naidu (AP CM, Feb 8, 2000)
"There are some sort of Naxal activities but it's mostly goondaism. Naxalites here have no ideology here (Jharkhand). There is no link between missionaries and naxalites"

Posted by: Ms. sapna endurthi At: 8, Feb 2005 10:20:35 AM IST The govt lost a great opportunity to finish off the entire leadership of the naxalites last week.
I wonder who put so much pressure on the govt to withdraw the greyhounds?
