Posted by: Ms. G Sunita At: 4, May 2003 4:33:45 PM IST the story behind this phrase is as follows
The origin of the phrase: "It is not cricket," is generally misunderstood and has nothing to do with the game of cricket.in a village in Norfolk Mr Charles Ricketts was treasurer of the local goose club; and during the whole of that time there was never a penny short at the annual share-out. When regrettable incidents occurred about Christmas time in neighbouring villages, people used to say sadly, "It is not C Ricketts, " which in the course of time became, "It is not cricket."
