Posted by: UK At: 11, Sep 2002 7:56:43 PM IST Visa Bulletin:
Consular divisions of US and UK have introduced new changes with immediate effect.
US:
Effective Monday September 9, 2002 all applicants applying for H-1B or L-1 visas for the first time will be required to make an appointment to be interviewed at http://ttsvisas.com. When making these appointments applicants should indicate that the Consulate has asked them to come in for an interview and should make the appointment for any Friday.
In addition all employees with less than 6 months with the company will also be required to make appointments for interviews. This is applicable for H-1B, L-1B and B-1.
Employees who have been previously denied a visa must also make an appointment for an interview.
Process to follow:
This is just an additional requirement, all other process, requirements will remain the same.
For H-1B/L-1B:
On receipt of approved petition, OOC will update the status in the SAP, which will automatically flash a mail to the applicant. Online report in the hrweb.
Dully approved FTR in HRWEB.
File for interview – OOC will hand over to the applicant after receipt of approved FTR.
This file will be handed over to the applicant with a brief on interview by OOC. To save time, we will combine this briefing with our Thursday travelers meetings, so that they can appear for interview on Friday.
For B-1 Travelers:
Dully approved FTR in HRWEB.
File for interview – by OOC and hand over to the applicant after receipt of approved FTR.
This file will be handed over to the applicant with a brief on interview by OOC. To save time, we will combine this briefing with our Thursday travelers meetings.
UK:
British High Commission was very fast in clearing the visa applications. To help the corporates’, one year back they have introduced the business express program by keeping the same processing norms.
Due to increase in load, and misuse of this program, wef this Monday, they are going to take minimum 8 to 10 days to process the application.
Note:
Request to plan for your team’s travel well in advance. Suggest to have the preemptive visas for your team to avoid last minute rush.
Today most of our requests are last minute. This unexpected last minute requests are taking most of our time. This will automatically delay the processing time of other applications.
Process for pre emptive visas:
To have a better control on visas, better planning of work and travel, we request to send a list by 1st of every month and applications by 5th. No FTR is required for preemptive visas.
Processing time at OOC:
As you know Immigration is becoming tougher. In order to qualify for BEP membership one has to demonstrate that they have well established process, and their authorized signatories must agree to and follow various security procedures.
Every BEP member's visa applications are carefully examined to verify documents, signatures, applicant's qualifications and purpose of the trip. Regular spot checks and audits are also conducted to ensure compliance with the rules, and occasionally companies are removed from the Program.
We at OOC will try to be online with the applications. However due to these lot of restrictions, we need to be very careful. Hence suggest to follow the norms.
cheers,
suresh
