Ragging by all means deserves to be banned.Might be some people take it as fun but fun going extremes is Ragging.No one has the right to have fun at the cost of others. New entrees should be welcomed with a pleasant smile and love .They should love to go to the college but not hate and fear of ragging.All of us have dreams about our first day of college.That dream is being killed in the name of ragging.Principal and other staff members should deeply involve in this matter and take caution not to encourage such things.Every senior was once a junior.If all the students have this awareness ,no one will rag any one in future. The first day in the college should be a happy get together .To quote an instance,the first day of my college in satya sai institute,we juniors were welcomed with love and warmth,our seniors entertained us with some programmes,greeted and addressed us with love and spoke some loving words about our joining there and about the college.Some juniors were literally in tears of joy and reciprocated so well immediately in their speech.Our warden and staff arranged a delicious dinner for all the incoming students and no wonder they all made a good impression in the hearts of the juniors. Such should be the relationship between juniors and seniors and not teasing each other.No one on this earth is perfect in everything.So no one has the right to eat the other's freedom through their words or actions.Somewhere this has to be stopped.Some seniors should take the initiative to put a stop to this so called concept ragging.High time it was replaced by "WELCOMING".

Ragging word it self sense any civilized person that is is behaviour devil. Especially in India once they came into colleage they think they are heros infact that is true only with in the campus and with new joinees. They are no guts the same can never in public it means this is weapon to satisfy thier ego, the desire they have with them since long. All the weak minded people join together and harrss the new joinee(s)where as a bold person will discuss with an individual(S). I can confidently say 70% are weak characters who are all following ragging and it should banned

According to me there is no exact answer to this question. Because this is having 50-50 advantages and disadvantages. This is getting bad image due to only a group of people. I am sure all the seniors are not rude and harsh towards juniors. Even during ragging period some seniors will really help the juniors. coming to disadvantages, the main problem is with a few seniors who really are bad and harsh towards juniors. Added to this the senitive juniors are ending their lives in a bit of depression. THIS IS VERY CLEAR THAT IT DEPENDS ON THE SENSITIVITY OF THE JUNIOR. WHY BECAUSE, NOT ONLY THE JUNIOR WHO HAD SUCIDED GOT RAGGED BY THAT SENIOR, THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER JUNIORS WHO GOT RAGGED BY THE SAME SENIOR AND WHO HAD NOT ENDED THEIR LIVES FOR THAT. BUT THIS IS NOT THE THING TO BE NEGLECTED. BECAUSE LIFE IS SO PRECIOUS. IT IS VERY BAD EVEN IF ONE LIFE WAS DESTROYED. SO HERE I CAN A POINT THAT THE SENIORS SHOULD BE AWARE OF JUNIORS MENTALITY AND THEN MAKE FUN OF THEM. Then the bad situations like sucide won't be repeated. coming to advantages, first thing is that they are getting good contacts with all the seniors which every body knows. Really the seniors will help a lot regarding studies and even in general life if the juiors are having good contacts with them. And secondly it helps to face some difficult situations in life. It is fact that every one has to face some bad situations in life. so if one had some bad experience like this, then mentally he/she will be in a better situation to face the unexpected difficulties in his/her coming future. Really this is a worrying thing that when they were juniors they hate the ragging and once they become seniors they will forget all the bad situations faced and are very much interested in ragging the juniors. i think it is better not to opose that because if we try to eliminate that, the intensity of ragging will be increased compared to that in normal conditions. So what all i can say about ragging is that first of all this can't be eliminated from the society and the bad effects will continue till there comes any CHANGE IN THE WAY OF THINKING OF SENIORS.

Ragging is not necessary. Introduction should be in a polite way. Yes, ofcourse ,juniors need the friendship of seniors. Seniors should be understanding and encouraging and let the juniors accustom to the college environment. Seniors must be responsible for any untoward incidents. They can't bring back the lost lives. So we shouldn't hurt anybody.

Many a times it goes to extremes and most of the freshmen who are coming to their new school and environment are very young. They may probably leaving their friends and family first time. During these times they should be given confidence and encouragement instead of terrorizing them. Unfortunately, we hear about these incidents mostly from Indian schools. Seniors should recognize these facts.
