| It is a waste of money only when one spends/burns more than he can afford and creating more fire accidents( if one can imagine the quality of the firewoks that are made in India).
Unlike elsewhere, here in India noise creation is more important for the fire works,which irritates elders and frightens young kids.

Do not tie culture/tradition with money..
it hurts.
If someone is suggesting ways of saving money..ther are many in that direction.
IF india is suffering from poverty..we should find money generating industries...not stop spending..in fact stopping spending is halting economic development.

well.actually i searched for some one saying its a waste of money....so that i can do a bit of arguing .but no one seems to say so :-(((((((

nenu can't say option ni enduku click chesanu ante,yes no ivi rendu perfectga cheppalenu.ok,it is not a wastage of money .but upto some extent only.sruthi minchithe edaina athigane untundi.mari ekkuvaga crackers konadam wastage of money kaka marenti?the biggest problem now out country is facing is POVERTY.we can use that money to solve this problem.ofcourse

I don't think so that Fireworks are wastage of money. For every festival of us, there are many scientific reasons behind.
Reasons Behind :: The powders that are used in preparing these crackers must be good so that the fumes that come out will help in driving mosquitoes, any kind of flies away. This is the only thing that I know of many good uses and reasons behind this tradition of burning Crackers.
Wastage of money::
This should be decided individually because spending some amount in this happy occasion seeing lights everywhere and everyone comes out of their shells(houses,rooms) and play together. Elders too became kids. REally precious moments. We should see to that those crackers should not account for pollution and they do not burn people accidentally. We need to be careful.
Child Labour::
Yekkada ledandi child labour. Right from intlo Servant maids daggara nunchi, Sivakasi daakaa yekkada choosinaa child laboure. kaabatti lopaalni choopinchi, pandage vaddu anukovadam sababu kaadu.
My Conclusion::
ye maarpu ayinaa andaroo kaliste, oka mission gaa work cheste vastundi. alaage "Child labour", "Pollution" ,
"Accidents during Diwali or in Shops" etc.,
We must feel proud that this festival is being celebrated all over the world. It is really worthy to be accepted worldwide because as someone suggested it is the only festival in which each and everyone , irrespective of their ages or any differences participate with full joy and enthusiasm.

One such is Deepavali.
What the hell u guys want? U are victims of so called NGOs who do not want some hindu festivals being celebrated in such fanfare.
They pull all the legs they could...
If they say sivakasi and child labour..we all agree to cooperate..
Money is not their area....
Why do they not oppose some muslim festivals where goat is sacrifised...They are pissed at it...they know for sure they will be killed.

U cant stop deepavali.
Why did british parliament celebrate deepavali this year? Why did combodia started celebrating deepavali.
Well, usa uses lots of fireworks at every important occasion.

i definitely feel that fireworks are waste of money, and more over it gives hell lot of pollution in all the ways, sound, heat, smoke etc, instead of wasting money in burning such crackers which blow our ears away, we can decorate our house with traditional candles(deepam), so that our house looks bright and gives a good look for us and also for others and this gives a peace of mind,and also enjoy that money in buying or making sweets.
