| bio tech is really upcoming and also replacing IT.
just like this it goes-
a hard disk or any chip made of silicon is having some drawbacks which can be overcomed by using carbon instead of silicon as carbaon is above silicon in the periodic table it can replace silicon. now think, our body is made of hydrocarbons and also our brain and u know the capacity of the brain and the hard disk of a computer so here bio has more advantage than the present chips.
this is just an example but there r many things like this where bio tech is replacing IT.
my opinion may not be accepted by all but i think this is the importance of biotech. in present day .

Posted by: Mr. vigyan tumuluri At: 22, Nov 2002 4:46:45 PM IST there is a big diff btw these fields. A part of Bio-Tech overlaps with IT but jobs in that field requires more skilled in that field!
So there wont be a big (may a bit) job openings for all those who have just skills in computing!!
Posted by: Mr. V Madhav At: 21, Nov 2002 7:33:59 PM IST Well one of my friends who is head of technology venture capital states.....
"when we started off in IT we atleast had the knowledge base (intellectual and educational system) to be leaders in development and high-end systems. we started off at the low end of value chain primarily because of financial reasons. We were new also meant we need to establish ourselves as reliable and resilent.....
In bio-tech I see an inverse proposition....we have the brand equity.....we have the resources to start at value added services.....but yet....."
So chandra gaaru......I don't see Bio-tech coming on par with IT in next 5 years (assuming people with domain knowledge and intellectual capability will slowly get it into it).....
