"I used to be the Legend Killer." Okay, and you're not now. Actually, now you're just a guy The Authority is using as a speedbump. His job, in this case, is to convince us he's not the speedbump and so far, he's done a piss poor job of it. [b]<a href="http://www.iwcl.co">fake iwc watches</a>[/b] - That said, the match with Rob Van Dam was the right booking decision, even if it didn't exactly do what they needed it to. Orton's edge was always that he's an honest to goodness psychopath who will kick people in the head in the hopes of not just ending their career but their life. He no longer has the market cornered on crazy -- hell, half the roster is working that gimmmick at this point -- so he has to find another angle or improve upon the flooded market. There was none of that here. What's worse, he's no longer in a position to play off his insecurity regarding his standing within The Authority. He's just sort of there. Just a speedbump for the mack truck that is Roman Reigns to run right over. _______________________________________ [b][url=http://www.iwcl.co]swiss replica iwc watches[/url][/b] - Speaking the mack truck (Ferrari engine optional), how long until we get to that point where we're all begging for Reigns to look vulnerable? It certainly wasn't a problem here, but the symptoms are already there. You're conquering badass hero has to, at some point, overcome. That's the playbook. You want to be a champion but you have to avoid becoming a dynasty, or at least do it in a way that you'll find mass acceptance. Considering that's damn near impossible, it may be time to worry about the long term ramifications of how strong Reigns is already being booked. Before you rush to yell at me that "he hasn't even been given a chance, typical IWC idiot opinion", know that I'm not saying he's failing. In addition, WWE deserves praise for staying the course with the guy they've so clearly chosen. Still, the warning signs are there. - The Miz finally found that character that he always needed. He can beat every week for the next year and he'll still be just as entertaining. _______________________________________ - The cutting and editing early on in this episode was damn near unbearable. The pacing on SmackDown is always funky but it's especially bad when you bring out Seth Rollins for a match, have him stand there, cut to break, come back from break, he stands there some more, you play a video package that lasts five minutes, cut back and he's still standing there. THEN Jack Swagger comes out for the match. Too awkward. - Also awkward: A Seth Rollins vs. Jack Swagger match. - Your mileage will always vary when dealing with a heel commentator, but it's especially bad with WWE right now because they have different commetators go in and out of the heel/baby dynamic on a whim. JBL's incessant whining about Swagger losing to Rusev went from mildly cute to utterly unbearable in the span of 20 seconds. I get trying to get the angle over, but JBL saying we might as well go back to the Cold War and forfeit to Russia thanks to SummerSlam's result is overkill. It's beyond overkill. It's just dumb. -- Not dumb? Bo Dallas. The win streak was all he had to push his BOLIEVE message and then R-Truth beat him, multiple times. Your message loses its credibility in a situation like that. So how do you recover? Well, you can't win, because in reality you suck, so you find a new angle. That angle is to heel on Swagger in a lame attempt to slide right into his spot as the American hero. Get in on this promo: "Jack, after letting down 318 million Americans by losing to Rusev at SummerSlam, you've gone from being an American hero to being an American zero. BUT, in true patriotic fashion, I'm willing to pick up the pieces of your failure and become the new American sweetheart. I know things seem bleak right now but a great American once said there is nothing to fear but fear itself. And all we have to do is look at fear right in the face and say 'I BOLIEVE!'" That's the good stuff. _______________________________________ - Mark Henry is a bully playing a babyface and that can't work unless you have a strong heel like Rusev. It's a good thing, too, because Henry floundering in a lame tag team with Big Show was always an awful idea. He's too good as the intimidating enforcer. Swagger and Zeb Colter were always all wrong for this spot, which is why it's a good thing they were felled by the Russian sympathizers. Henry's perfect because he's the Olympian you can feel good about sending out like "yeah, what's up now?" - Here's what was really good about last night's segment, though: Lana and Rusev came out and squashed a jobber in Sin Cara like nothing had changed. It was like the confrontation on Raw this week didn't happen and Rusev wasn't embarrassed by an American who is bigger and stronger. They just tried to move on and forget. So Lana cues up the Vladimir Putin picture only to turn into a greeting from Henry's big ugly mug and her reaction is priceless. It's perfect. She's shocked and immediately scared. Then she makes Rusev leave while screaming that Henry will pay but it's not convincing and that's perfect. She watched Rusev get his wig split and she's unsure of how to deal with the situation. Her uncertainty showed. More, please. _______________________________________ - I couldn't get into this Wyatt Family vs. Goldust & Stardust match, probably because WWE is trotting out two teams that never win matches in a division no one cares about because WWE has made it clear over the past two months that it doesn't care about its tag division. When The Shield broke up, everything changed. The Usos aren't compelling as champions, but every other team in existence has done so many jobs it's hardly worth watching as they furiously attempt to build a challenger. And maybe they aren't even doing that considering the Dust brothers won here and then immediately got their ass kicked. No one looks good in this. _______________________________________ - I don't have a better idea to present here but are we really watching Natalya beat Paige two times in a row just to disappear as though she didn't win two times in a row while AJ Lee skips around the ring and gets another title shot, despite losing clean to Paige multiple times? How does any of this make sense? The story turned into "you can't out crazy me and I'll show you" and that's fine, but it's also built around both ladies winning the title, losing every match after, the two fighting again, and then repeating the process. What kind of Groundhog Day hell is this? - What's truly unfortunate is Paige is finally starting to flesh out a real character in all this and it's getting lost in the fact that she's doing jobs in the most insultingly stupid ways possible. AJ skips around the ring and suddenly it's like she's Festus and no one bothered to ring the bell yet. Then AJ steals the Divas championship and she absolutely just HAS to go get it right then at that moment. She couldn't possibly just let AJ leave with it, win the match, then go get it back. The funny thing is that's an angle that would work if the roles were reversed because AJ has that unhealthy obsession with that title. With Paige, not so much. _______________________________________ This was a really disappointing follow up to SummerSlam. SmackDown is missing something. Grade: C- That's it from me, Cagesiders.
