General Forum: Offbeat n Jokes | New Chemical Element Discovered in India | |
| This Governementum has infinite Inertia and it requires to be struck by a body moving with infinite momentum to set it into action.
Posted by: Mr. Siri Siri At: 5, Dec 2002 1:36:18 PM IST This was forwarded to me as part of our scientific data exchange with premier reasearch institutions in India.
The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, has recently announced the discovery of the heaviest chemical element yet known to science. The new element has been tentatively named "Governmentium".
Governmentium has 1 neutron,12 deputy neutrons,75 deputy assistant neutrons and 11 assistant to the deputy assistant neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.
These 312 particles are held together by forces called "morons", which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called "peons". Since governmentium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected and it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A trace amount of governmentium causes one reaction to take over 4 days to complete, when it should normally take less than a second.
Governmentium has a half-life of 3 years; it does not decay, but instead, undergoes a "reorganization" in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, goverrnmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each
reorganization will cause some morons to become neutrons, forming "isodopes".
This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to speculate that governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a certain critical quantity. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as the "critical morass".
My opinion is:
The Indians jumped the gun with their research findings without conducting further experiments. I am afraid this would lead to copycat findings analogus to events related to testtube fusion several years ago.
