If you find a person or a group of people who you can put all your trust in and give them the money and tell them to do something worthy and leave it all up to them and keep an eye once in a while then that's good and you are in luck and our people who are in need are fortunate. If I do find the right person or right people I will definitely contribute money to my home town where I grew up for sanitation, water, education etc time to time.
Posted by: Mrs. Manjula Rao At: 11, Apr 2003 8:01:05 AM IST Looks like your contributions are not into right people. Thanks to my seniors from my school who r in India and abroad and who created a site for the school fund. I am happy to say that last week the first programme, undertaken was a borewell for the hostel.
How nice it is. Spent Rs30000. I can remember water scarcity we suffred in school hostels.
Like this there are many places where really need help. Like hospitals, studies for poor, equipment for schools, if not monetory help, you can do a lot to society.
Posted by: Mr. Rajesh Naidu At: 11, Apr 2003 3:20:17 AM IST I totally agree with Mrs Manjula. You do so
much to close family members, but they think
differently. Many of our relatives think
we earn dollars in US without doing any
hard work. They do not realize how much
effort we put in here (by working late
evenings, weekends etc).
We have some close relatives who took money as a loan 5 years ago (saying that they will give back in 2 months),
till now they did not pay a single
rupee. Further 6 months ago they came back again asking for lot more money with added condition that they will not be able to pay any thing for at least 2 years.
I do not want to help any body, who tries to
exploit my helping nature. I do not want
to help to any individual or organization
who promotes laziness (just distributes
after taking their share).
Our contribution should just fill the small
gap(under 10%) between the enormous hard work by beneficiary(over 90%) and the need(100%). All my recent contributions fit
this profile and I know exactly how money
given by me will be spent.
Kudos to Rajesh Naidu (and scores of others)
who did identify nice beneficiaries like
schools etc.
Posted by: Mr. Rambabu Ch At: 11, Apr 2003 0:59:52 AM IST I did contribute sooo much every time I go back home, I mean to my own people/family first. Contributing my time to the family, which no one appreciates anymore they just humiliate you cause you are living abroad, I give expensive gifts, they take it but humiliate you behind your back, and, people want me to show them entire US just cause I'am living here in US, if you don't they humiliate you for that too. People expect soo much and still degrade you and your feelings just cause you are living abroad.
Every friend I spoke with sort of have similar problems everytime they go back
home with close family members. I'am sick and tired of it and yeah I definitely would rather GIVE to charities and people in need in India rather than giving to family members. Hard earned money will go for a good cause, recieving side atleast show appreciation and you feel like you have done something right.
Posted by: Mrs. Manjula Rao At: 11, Apr 2003 0:22:37 AM IST Rajesh you are 100% right, but it will defenitely help others and I don't think there is any thing wrong in this.
Anyway it is up to the people..I hope tp can understand it.
I contributed Rs 2500 for my school recently.
Posted by: Mr. Rajesh Naidu At: 5, Apr 2003 0:03:07 AM IST Even if we do some thing its not good to open to public, cause people may think we are talking about ourself more.
So better not to disclose those things... It is up to you to feel whether u did any thing good for the people or society.
Posted by: Rajesh At: 4, Apr 2003 11:11:07 PM IST Dear Tps
Curious to know how many of you think you have contributed to our society other than your regular job? Like Monetory donations to poor, students etc, Helping and giving service to some organisations? Helping the planet by plantation?...ANy thing which you feel you did in your life sofar?
Please do not post what can be done..Just to know so that it can inspire others too.
Naidu...
