How can I shut my eyes?
When tomorrow I’ll be in your arms.
How can I sleep a wink?
When tomorrow my heart will leap and clink.
How can I stop thinking and pondering?
When my mind keeps on wandering.
Thinking about what I’d say and what I’d do,
When tomorrow, at last, I’ll be facing you.
Would I tremble and stutter?
When my heart begins to flutter.
Would I know what to say or what to utter?
Being physically next to my significant o
ther.
Would I meet your projection?
Would you know the depth of my affection?
That you’re my reason for seeking perfection,
That through you I view the world’s reflection.
Would I be able to gaze into your eyes?
Seeking to obtain your silent replies.
Would you know that you’re my sunrise?
And when you’ll set, my soul dies.
So until tomorrow I shall lie awake,
Counting the seconds until
my dawn will break
