Remember me on this computer
Anupama ji, I was telling about the number of visas after reduction itself... there were some rumours here in Chennai in early June that total number of visas(incl. H, B, F, L all) were reduced further, limiting to 35,000 per year for all categories from India. He was clarifying on this. Yes, what do people like me(client/server) do though we come there and find no suitable job? And worrying part is not only to you, for all those young and energetic enthusiastic guys who want to go to US and those who are spending their initial days of H1. :) you are in safe position, I understand... as you are Mrs. Just joking. Well dilemma... I don't think so, practically, except for those guys who already invested on housing in US. The money what they've already made is more than sufficient to start a happier life in India, get some decent job which earns them about INR 30k net(monthly). I agree with the guys who bought houses in US, their situation is a bit tough. Now, market in India is very good, almost every worthy guy is getting job, if tried in proper way(FYI, as you may be aware of current scene in India). What I personally feel is, let US bring some rule not to entertain any more Indians from now on from India. Then they will suffer like hell. They will realise how much they are dependant on India s/w pro's. For their current policies itself, work is flooding into India, my company itself expanded 3-fold for past 2 yrs, planned to expand atleast another 3-fold by end of '05... and it may be true with several MNC's. Wow madam, salaries are shooting up here in India, opportunities are coming to our hands(on our mobile phones)... those golden days are coming back in India(of 1998-2000).

a recent study done bye Mckinsey &co .. says that over the next 5-10 years , there will be a transfer of about 10% of the total jobs in USA to other asian countries and hence the americans will loose these jobs. IBM has started to move the jobs out of USA on a large scale.. many companies are foloowing the same . this means no new jobs in USA . and hence no increase in the H1B visas.

Well, let me share what we understood from a chat with Blackwell when he visited our company in June... we put him the same question and he clearly said that it is NOT possible as it is against the US economy. Many industries that use IT as their support operations depend on software development companies(outsourced) for their software maintenance and enhancements. And these s/w copanies need people and US is not having enough number of software "professionals". Hence, the only way for these companies is to send work to its solution centers in other countries(like India, China, Vietnam etc) and that much amount of US$s go out of US to those countries, thus hitting the US economy very badly. No president can afford that situation. Yes, few senators are proposing ban on H1s, ban on outsourcing (beyond 35%) work to other countries, but its purely political stint. US Government cannot do such things. But again at the same time, they agree that unemployment is increasing in US, hence they are taking some steps like not allowing non-computer graduates to US on H1 or L1 etc, thus limiting the number of "possible" skilled workers to go to US. But they havenot reduced the number of visas that are being issued in India. So guys, that question raised by Anupama madam is not worth of worrying. And UK, you can still go to US... but before that, just join some good company that send its employees to US on short trip... once you go there, you will realise that how "happy" you were in India! And then, you will think of coming back(if, you are not married and you don't take your wife with you to US. if she goes there with you, then she won't let you to come back to India... yes, it is a fact).
