General Forum: Current 'Affairs' | SC favours introduction of Uniform Civil Code | |
| Congress , Mulayam and Laloo will never support UCC, if they support they loose their vote banks and they are dead politically and if they dont support UCC then they will get aleinated from the majority votes coz, lot of people support UCC
They are in a catch 22 situation now, BJP will try to get maximum mileage from this situation, which is good for a country like India, our country

At last Supreme Court has to express its regrets in this way. In the recent comment made by the judges, it is clear that SC favours Uniform Civil Code. This is a link to my article, Common Civil Code in India.

The following is taken from Rediff's article on the given topic. Share your comments.
--------------------
In a major development, the Supreme Court on Wednesday regretted the non-implementation of a Uniform Civil Code.
The observation was made by a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice V N Khare while hearing a petition filed by a Christian priest challenging Section 118 of the Indian Succession Act, which says a Christian cannot donate his wealth to religious institutions at the cost of his/her relatives.
The court declared Section 118 of the Indian Succession Act as unconstitutional.
While delivering the judgment, the bench regretted that even after over 50 years of independence, Article 44 of the Constitution had not been given effect to.
Article 44, under the Directive Principles of State Policy, says 'It shall be the endeavour of the government to bring in a common civil code.'
The bench, which included Justice S B Sinha and Justice A R Lakshmanan, observed, "Parliament is still to step in for bringing a Common Civil Code in the country. A Common Civil Code will help the cause of national integration by removing the contradiction based on ideologies."
