FIRMS QUOTE ADSURD PRICES TO GET CONTRACT
Cardomom at Rs.2 a kg., cashewnuts Rs.10 a kg.,kannan devan Tea Rs.40 a kg., an electric bulb from Mysore lamps at just Rs.2......the list goes on.......sounds unbelievable,but it is not untrue either.Some firms are supllying the commodities at such prices.These are prices quoted in a tender to supply grocery and other items to backward class and minority hostels in Chitradurga dt. such price list itself was an indicator of corruption.
"We have not violated any norms of the govt.we invited tender,As per rules we have to select the lowest bidder".an officer told.
Janata bazar of chitradurga, a branch of the karnataka state cooperative consumer federation,also paticipated in the tender.But it could not win in tender, as it could not offer to supply at such a low prices.
