| The Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths on Tuesday arrested Guntur registrar G
Syamala and seized properties worth Rs 40 lakh. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle
ACB DSP Siddha Reddy said they have been receiving complaints against the
registrar for several months and started investigation. In the process, they
have secured evidences for all the charges and raided on her two houses and
seven of her family members in Vijayawada, Hanuman Junction, Mudinepalli and
Gampalagudem in Krishna and Guntur districts.The DSP said the registrar had
purchased a flat in Indira Towers on M G Road and another house at Golden
Towers in Guntur. She also owned a plot in Vijayawada, while the family owned
a car, one tractor, two motorcycles besides posh houses all worth about Rs 40
lakh. He said these properties were disproportionate to the known sources of
income of Syamala.He said the family also purchased 33 acre of fish tanks, 12
acre of fertile land in various places in the district and added that the ACB
had seized all documents relating to these immovable properties. A case was
registered(span style="mso-spacerun: yes and the officer was taken into
custody, the DSP said.ACB inspectors Vijay Kumar and Ravikumar Reddy from
Vijayawada, Subba Reddy and Ramesh Babu from Eluru and Venkateswarlu and Raja
Rao from Rajahmundry participated in the raids.The arrested officer would be
produced in the ACB court here on Wednesday, the DSP said.
