| National unity and integration of state will have a meaning when its internal units of living like regions, have an equal opportunity for progress throgh a concerted attempt and having a definite access base for protection of the historically specified rights. The denial of the specific aspirations and rights of any region at any given point of time create an atmosphere of reviewing of the experiences of the very unity and integration in critical fashion.
It is true that in certain contexts of the historical trajectory, certain regions in India were lagging behind. This was always explained as the out come of what is popularly known as the ‘uneven development process’ and formation of ‘uneven development of capital’. But, the question one has to understand is how long one rely upon this assumption and ignore the process of the ‘development of unevenness of region over the years despite lapse of fifty years of conscious intervention by the Governments.
Formation of AP was pre-conditioned with general agreements and specific guarantees for protection of interestes of the Telangana People.
Once prosperous and model princely Hyderabad state only state with 4 Airports (Old Airport (Secenderabad), Warangal, Adilabad) and pioneer in Power Plants and Educational institutions with mostly fiscal despline state with surplus budget of about 250 Crores and where as before formation Andhra state was behind in finacial reforms and was running with deficit budget of 10 Crores had not even one airport in andhra state till 1956. The marriage to uneven partner resulted big blow to telangana economically and culturally and resulted a colonization of migrants.
When intelectuals are supporting separate Telengana state lot of people may have mis givings where we stand as a separate state, is it viable? Yes it is viable. Telangana is bigger than Bihar, West Bengal and so many other states in area, in population it is 15 Th largest regions if we compare with other indian states, please see the attachmet. Present population Telangana is roghly same as 1956 Andhra Pradesh state.
